The technological revolution of the 21st century has given rise to hundreds of companies, all vying for success in the age of information. Some companies have soared along the trend while others have been decidedly unsuccessful. Many companies’ successes are based on and driven by the Internet. One corporation whose name has become synonymous with any mention of the Internet is Google. Google’s technological reign is so prevalent, that according to “Business: Google’s enemies,” “In Silicon Valley, one of the first questions a potential investor asks a start-up is: “What would you do if Google moved into your space?”” Google’s manifest destiny attitude toward the Internet and technological advancements in general allow it to maintain its authority over the market.
It is substantial knowing how Android and its large user community, as Google, is affected by the fact of these system being open source and the way manufacturer make clients feel satisfied with their handset offerings, and in the same way how can both be largely benefited by the same causes. III. Android Operating System and its History Android is a mobile operating system based on the Linux kernel, it has a marketshare of approximately the 80% being the most used mobile operating system now (Banerjee, 2013). Since Apple’s release of the IPhone in 2007, it continuously proves to leads the industry in technology and style. It is estimated that the iPhone alone accounts for nearly two-thirds of Apple’s net income, which was $41 billion over $156.5 billion in revenues in 2012. Apples current philosophy on ethical and social responsibilities got its start in 2010. The company’s new found concern for more ethical practices has been directed to its supplier responsibilities in the areas of empowering workers, adhering to labor and worker rights, concern for employees health and safety, the environment in which employees work, and Accountability. A few of the most highlighted new initiatives include: increased number of audits performed in each of it facilities, the offering of educational and development training for its employees, and closer monitoring of excessive working conditions for the employees.
