Andrew Carnegie was a well known businessman who made a fortune with his major company, Carnegie Steel. But the hot topic is not about the company, rather the man. Some claim Carnegie was a robber baron who treated his workers terrible, just so he could get his money. Others, consider him a perfectly fair, captain of industry who worked hard to get where he got. Throughout his whole life, Carnegie made and still continues to make, a difference in the world today. Andrew loved Philanthropy, during his life he donated and gave over $350,000,000.00 (About 12 Billion dollars today), that’s over 90% of his fortune. But Carnegie did not believe without doing, as he started out working at the young age of 12 for just $1.25 a week. He worked very hard for promotions and often got them, eventually he got a pay raise up to $2 for his second job, he was thrilled for this pay raise and it made him want to work even harder. Andrew was so determined to get more money and better jobs that he learned new skills such as the iron and the telegraph, he was also one of the only boys to be able to recite the morse code message without having it put on paper. Whenever he became more rich he began to give speeches to little children, encouraging them to work hard. Carnegie helped the economy through his hard work and perseverance, his drive to be the best resulted in helping the country he lived in, America. Carnegie discovered a fast and easy way to make steel, he shifted to Steel instead of iron because it was cheaper and more durable, this for one, helped our country. because of his mass production, Andrew was able to lower the price of Steel by 20% for all Americans. he also played a major role in the industrial revolution, because of his Steel, America at that time Advanced ahead of everyone
