I really like the three poems because the purpose of the three poems was to make a change about racism so others can understand. The first poem “ The Negro Speaks Of Rivers” really was fun to read because he uses his poem as imagery to explain how he raised himself. The term Negro is a respectful way of calling blacks African Americans. I like how the poem uses context clues, it made me think of ideas to understand what he’s talking about. One way of this is when he mentions about the soul was growing deep. I though his life was in severe as the days continued by due to racism. Again racism is towards african americans. White people didn’t accept an african for who he is. I find it disrespectful because he just wanted to eat in the table like a normal person. White people sent him to the kitchen to eat when people came over. It’s not fair how white people have different views of colored people and not showing respect. I don’t understand why white people feel this way towards the negroes, makes no sense to me. I’m glad that he came to the purpose that he is happy for who he is as a person inside and out. People who judge others should feel ashamed. Judging leads to nowhere but negative energy of hatred. I find it important for people to feel confident about themselves no matter what others would think of them. There’s many different kinds of race in this world that has an important special heritages other people don’t have. I think it was a good idea how he wanted to change the way how the whites were treating him so they can have a stop on judgement. I like the way his behavior led to a way of showing how many people can have the actions he did to end racism.
