Walking into a store and your eyes are assaulted by bright yellow stickers on everything. They read, “Caution may contain GMOs”. They like flashing billboards that send people running in the other direction, but must people really don’t know what they are running from. They don’t know what they are, what their benefits are. These combinations are an advanced form of artificial selection that cannot happen in nature or through traditional crossbreeding. Although traditional crossbreeding is how it all started, in about the year 50,000 BC. That is when we started domesticating animals for food. Eventually we would become an agriculture-based society and start cross breeding plants to make the best food for us. We would pick plants with the traits that where the most advantageous for us and breed them. This was our own kind of genetic modification. It allowed us to pick and choose which traits where the best and would be passed down. Then scientist started to speed up the process by genetically modifying organisms. To genetically modify an organism a scientist picks a gene in an organism and extracts it. Then they clone that gene thousands of times, so that it can be put into the cells. Next, they must insert the gene into the second organism, and after this they actually put the gene...
