Analysis of G.I JIM
The first shot in G.I JIM is a black screen then the words “ 2004,
Urgay” we made the letters after 2004 appear 1 by 1 so it appeared to
spell in text form the sentence you are gay instead of Uruguay. We did
this because in spoofs they often make jokes using the text that
appears by making it appear like a mistake and our target audience of
13 to 16 find jokes about homosexuality very amusing also so we
thought it was funny. Also the same joke had been used in the Simpsons
before it and was very popular. The next shot is of Jim (Jack) and a
drunk in a homeless shelter. We choose to set it in a homeless shelter
because in most action films it establishes with the main character
excluding themselves from society because of their experiences in war.
In this scene we put some old fashioned, upbeat, trumpety music on. We
did this because it made the scene more amusing and it connotes the
old black and white slapstick films. This fits in quite well because
in this scene Jim tries to steal a bottle of whisky of the hobo, this
is quite similar comedy to the black and white films such as Charlie
Chaplin. Jim has a flashback of a mission. We did this by focusing on
his face and then fading to the next scene, this is connotes a
flashback by the misty way the scene moves to the next one. The next
set of scenes is in black and white sticking to the misty dream theme.
The music in this is “Stair way to heaven” by Lead Zeppelin, we chose
this song because it is soft and mellow and is very dream like and it
came out in . The first scene is of Jim and Hochi (sidekick) running
past the camera. The camera is at waist height for Jim but we made it
so it was at the same level as Hochi’s head, we did this because it
would make him seem very small and as Jim ran past with the camera at
I choose this scene because of the high tensions it has I also choose it because it is the climax my favorite
Jim Loney’s daily routine of destruction is apparent throughout the novel. Jim suffers from a serious case of alcoholism and is addicted to smoking cigarettes. He is very well known at every bar and liquor store in Harlem. Jim is never too far away from a glass of his favorite poison. Jim is nearly drinking himself to death. Jim is drunk most of the time, so his days basically merge together as one. Jim considers alcohol

marathon; this is an old 50's TV show. There is a boy called David and
...l Joey and throw him into the shore. The camera movements would be between Joey and Terry when they are talking about a plan to convince everyone he really is dead. They will have a short shot and in between a long short length shot to a far boat where someone is watching everything that is happening. The music would continue to be suspense and loud playing instruments. The long shot will balance the loud music with the extreme distance close ups.
This creates a distorting view keeping Brody’s face in the same position but stretching and distorting the view behind him. This shot disorients the audience for a second indicating Brody’s own disoriented emotions when seeing the attack. This shot takes the air out of the situation and throws Brody right into action. Chief Brody’s fear of another shark attack has become reality. The scene then breaks out into complete chaos. A wide-angle lens is used and it shows how helpless Brody is to the situation as he and the rest of the crowd are forced to watch the boy be ripped apart. The scene ends with Alex’s raft washing up on the shore to lower the tension for the next scene.
...usician. This is a piece that will always be special in my heart, and I know that if I wasn't exposed to it at such an early age, you might not have seen me in this class, or even at the college, studying music, the real love of my life.
reflects a modern idea of love. One of the pieces of music in the film
My first song I´ve chosen is Sean McGee, song titled My Story. Mainly the song is about him facing different struggles, obstacles, and all the horrible things and situations he´s been in throughout his life. I can connect to this song and the lyrics for many reasons. One of his lines were ¨Do you know how it feels to be left out in the rain¨? And I have faced times like this when I feel like no one is there or have my back, and in the line he´s trying express how it feels to have nobody and be all alone. Also throughout this song he expresses how everyday you wake up your face with something rather it's just a minor issue or something that will greatly impact your life.
Out of all of the short stories we read this semester I would say my all time favorite would be "Gary Keillor” by Garrison Keillor. This is my favorite because a lot about this story I can relate to. "Never give up on beauty. Never compromise your standards out of fear that someone may not understand." (Keillor 429) I feel like this quote helped Gary go through with actually doing the talent show. Even though the students laughed at him, he at least needed one person to tell him something like that. Gary finally got payback on Bill at the talent show. Bill was kind of a bully to Gary, always making fun of him treating him like he is not perfect. After Gary messed with Bill's talent show act it was time for Gary to mess up Bill's act.
In one of the scenes, Jim is caught between trying to prove his masculinity or staying home and being the good son that his parents have yearned for. He struggles emotionally and physically, mainly because his parents do not live up to society’s expectations of
According to Bootlegging, it explained the origins of bootlegging and the effects of homemade alcohol consumption. For instance, “Millions of gallons of this were illegally diverted, ‘washed’ of noxious chemicals, mixed with tap water and perhaps a dash of real liquor for flavour, and sold to speakeasies or individual customers” (Britannica). In order for wealth to increase, bootleggers made rotgut alcohol to benefit their organization such as the creation of mafias and gangsters. Their productions were consumed by customers in which it resulted incurable side effects. Thus sparks the creation of the Hooch Murder Bill. The Hooch Murder Bill is an Act in which an individual can be sentenced for murder if suspected for selling illegal alcohol in which leads to their consumer becoming succumbed. For instance, “… the deaths from alcoholism in New York City… are far below the number shown by the records for the last seven years …” (Anderson). Bootleggers influenced New Yorkers to purchase their alcohol in which profited their organization, thus increasing the death rate that occurred throughout the 1920s. According to Anderson, he believed that it was outstanding on how alcohol is able to outnumber the death rate on that year comparison to the 7 years
For this assignment, the song I chose was "Awake My Soul" by the band Mumford and Sons. I picked this particular song because I am a huge fan of this band and their songs. Mumford & Sons are an English folk rock band who formed in 2007. The band has released two albums as of 2013, “Sigh No More”(2009) and “Babel”(2012). In December 2010, the band received two Grammy Award nominations, one for Best New Artist and the other for Best Rock Song. They won the Brit Award in 2011 for Best British Album. I find the lyrics of "Awake My Soul" beautifully placed and poetic. Mumford and Sons are known for their lyrically complex style of writing and unique folk sound; their intricate melodies and lyrics full of literary allusions. Their music has a familiar comfort to it but a unique perspective. I love the utter simplicity and wisdom of the messages portrayed throughout many of their songs; arranged in a way that makes one appreciate the beautiful combination of music and lyrics working together.
He is a simple and ordinary person and seemed out of place with the other characters. Jim was presented as the long waited gentlemen caller coming to sweep Laura away. He is the only one who gets inside Laura’s secret world. He remembers Laura from high school, because he gave her the nickname “Blue Roses.” He did not understand her when she said she had Pleurisies. Jim tried to escape his feelings for Laura, because he was too busy playing high school hero and he was hiding his own emotions.
In conclusion, I found that both of these songs had a strong impact on my emotions. Not only did they impact me but they also told of story of hope, faith and belief
