Riverdale is apart of Community District 8 and the 10471 zip code, which includes Kingsbridge, Marble Hill and Spuyten Duyvil This community is composed of many hills and slopes, which can be a potential danger during the winter months. In most areas, the pavement is relatively smooth but some sidewalks have chunks of uneven and unsteady rocks. There are also green streets in various spots in the region. Living here would probably be a problem for some people because of the high prices, but the homes in Riverdale add a special glimmer to the community. The homes in Riverdale are a collection of apartment buildings, condominiums and elegant private one & two family houses. Examples are bakeries, nail and hair salons, insurance establishments, banks and clothing stores. The setup of Riverdale is very much like a small town and is very sufficient in supplying its residents with their needs. The noise level here is very different from that of any other part of the Bronx. Generally, the area is quiet except for the ... ... middle of paper ... ...nity. The health care system should be the ones who notice a problem within the community. They should look for trends in the statistics and gather evidence for the problem. The government needs to intervene and come up with ways to fund these new clinics. They also need to regulate the health care system to be sure that its programs are running and the residents are taking advantage of them. Tobacco use will certainly place a strain on the Riverdale community. Not being able to find help will also place a bigger strain on individuals and their health. Garbage will place a strain on the community since it harbors rodents. This could bring disease to the community. Peacefulness and quietness are positive factors which enhance Riverdale's health status. This keeps them at harmony and keeps them from worrying about the outcome of their community. by Janice Newman
