Recommended: Importance of leadership in education

Leadership Lessons Standard 1 of the Florida Principal Leadership Standards (2011) describe the priority of the school leader as, “effective school leaders demonstrate that the student learning is their top priority through leadership actions that build and support a learning organization focus on student success”. Our number one priority and focus is and always should be our students. They are the reason behind our professions. It is the faculty the ones who should be supported by the administrators. The leaders should celebrate their success, encourage them, support their assertive instructional decisions, and motivate them each day to create the right conditions for learning. The principals must plan to project growth the most accurate possible, employing all the help that they could get for this challenging task. Students should not be affected because qualified teachers are not available. Strategic schools use the resources at had to relocate, and alleviate the human resources problems. Osceola School District administration team is starting to implement a new plan to support the classroom instruction. The district administrators are focusing mainly in the subgroups of special education (ESE) and English language learners (ELL). In my work-site, the human resources allocated to both of those programs are usually disconnected of the regular education or content classroom. There is no communication between the regular teacher and the special education specialist. Part of the district superintendent plan is to provide the specialists with professional development in content, for them to support the regular class instruction. Additionally, the specialist must provide support as “team teaching” in the mainstream clas... ... middle of paper ... ... They could pull out the school or district coaches and allocate them in the classrooms. Even when that was the original idea, the politics of schools changed the plans. For some unknown reason, the coach who started teaching that group, went back to her office and those students are been taught with videos, like the ones use in Florida Virtual School (FVS). The students do not have the opportunity to ask questions, to interact with a math teacher, or to create a positive learning environment. As a leader candidate, I can understand the challenges and multiplicity of complications that administrators must face each day. However, I will not accept any remote possibility that the students must be affected by some flaws of the school organization. We all as leaders, must be strategic with people, time, and money to guide our students towards an academic success.
