The snow woman, a short story written by Norah Burke, brings the reader into the lives

of a woman, Lha-mo. Lha-mo and her family live in the high Himalayas, Lha-mo likes

feminine things like jewel. She pines after the beautiful necklace she saw at the fair, in order

to get the necklace and has a better life; she decides to kill the snowman for their fur in

return for money. At last, she gives up to kill the snow woman, because she sees the snow

woman has a baby in her arms. I believe men are equal to all the animate things in the

environment. In the end, Lha-mo sees a snow woman and a snow child, the child has

reliance on his mother, that’s why she does not kill them. Not only is Lha-mo a nature human, but it is also a good mother. In the world animals have emotions too. They love and hate just

like humans. I feel very strongly human have to treat animals’ right.

In the short story, “The silversmith sat in front of his open shop, making a

necklace. ...She had thought of the thing ever since, and now here were yeti tracks.”(pg2)
