The movie Paranormal Activity portrayed a young Caucasian couple, who throughout the movie experience a series of traumatic events. These events become more severe within a time span of twenty-one nights. Micah, and his girlfriend Katie, notice that there are weird occurrences throughout the night as they try to sleep. So in order to keep record of what is happening, Micah bought a camera. With this camera he proved the existence of entities that had entered his house. As Katie notices that things are worsening she hires Dr. Fredrich, played by a Caucasian male, for advice and help. She explains to him that when she was 8 years of age, she experienced paranormal activities periodically. After her house caught on fire and destroyed everything, her and her family were forced to move elsewhere, and yet the entities followed her. Afterwards, Dr. Fredrich then explains that the entities would not leave unless they had a hold of Katie’s soul. The movie then continues to prove the existence of the entities that follow Katie. It ends with Micah’s death and the disappearance of his girlfriend who at last has been captured by the demons that had taunted her. History
His body was found by the police and Katie’s remains were unknown, thus leaving the audience with a sense of anticipation. Where did Katie go? Did Katie’s ethnicity have something to do with her not being arrested for her husband’s murder? This parallels to W. E. DuBois’ colour line. The colour line implied the importance the darkness of your skin was to society; the darker your skin the more of a disgrace you were to society. His metaphor emphasized, how being on the right side of the spectrum automatically made you more privileged, in other words it gave you accessibility to more resources. Perhaps, Katie was not arrested at the end of the movie, because it would be wrong to defame the white race since it has been instituted as perfect and free from
