There are many important issues mention the the book Deaf Again. The book talked about thing beyond disabilities. People tend to judge others who are not similar to them or their ideal image of normal. The overall need for communication is the major topic that is stressed in the text. The foundation of a relationship is built off of the strength of communication so being able to communicate with all is a very important aspect of life. His parents dealt with the struggles with Mark as he grew up. In the beginning of the book, the author talks about deafness. He believe that deafness is not something that should be looked down upon. His beliefs people reduce their thoughts about people with disabilities. He talks about other beliefs on deafness and hard of hearing. Mark experience difficulties within his work place as well as school, early life, and relationships. In the workplace, Mark felt insecure and like he could not obtain a job in any other field
Verbal communication is just one way that you can conversate among others. But for those that can not hear or see is it right for them to be left out of the conversation? No they should not but, in the space token should they be judged because they communicate differently? I thought that it was wrong fro Mark’s grandparents to try to forced him to be their ideal image of what they believed was normal. If someone is deaf that does not make them less of a person and they should not be treated as such. Mark felt like he was a test animal because his grandparents refused to believe that their grandchild was losing his hearing. It was not right of them to put him in so many medical arrangements. As well, as put in in a predicament where he was faced with choosing to be bullied due to his hearing lost or
