The narrative examples expressed in the text of “ Sponsors of Literacy,” assisted the illustration of Brandt’s central point by clearing stated the obstacle then correlating the event to the different types of sponsoring. Sponsorer have been known to be parents, older ancestors, priests, Influential authors, mentors, and supervisors. These individuals always find a way to smooth the roads ahead for us. Helping us by guiding us through the obstacles, we believe we can’t overcome. In the text below, I have summarized the sections into three sections, as well as provided brief examples that go more into depth of their personal outcomes. Three types of sponsoring discussed in this article are Sponsorship and Access, Sponsorship and Rise in Literacy Standards, and Sponsorship and Appropriation in Literacy learning. …show more content…

In the text, there is a comparison between two young individuals; Raymond, a son of a real estate executive mother and a father as a professor and Dora, daughter of a father who found work at his local university as a shipping and receiving clerk, her mother worked a part-time job in a bookstore. Raymond had a greater chance at succeeding, reason for he was a son of an academic therefore the young fellow was sponsored by the newest technology and well educated professionals. Dora on the other hand, also succeed but was not as advanced as Raymond, due to not having enough funds to attain better knowledge. Dora was sponsored by her parents, who had access to the bookstore as well as second- hand technology of the university in which her parents worked
