Marcia Lieberman in her essay “ Some Day My Prince Will Come: Female Acculturation Through the Fairytale” argues that the stories are not just based on the women that have being affected or had an happy ending but also it have affected the life and mind of children who believes in these stories. In the essay Liberman have made many examples and comparisons upon which some of these stories had many traditional values and not only that, but also had traditional fairytale endings. (Pg. 385). Without beauty many women in the stories believe that they won’t have a happy ending due to the way they look or how society sees them. Many of these stories are based on women who are in a stressful situation and a prince rescues them. But most importantly they have to be beautiful because that’s what they see first and what will attract the eye of the prince3. Most of these women being pretty, means being rewarded and being rewarded means being happy at the end. Lieberman also argues that “Beautiful girls have never being ignored, but woman that are wicked, won’t get that happy ending no matter what they do”. The reason for this is that if your ugly you would be easily rejected by a prince rather than if you were beautiful. Many of these stories have women that are wicked and that they are the ones who are doing the envious things because they tend to get jealous over the fact that they aren’t the one that are getting the happy ending that they deserve. This does have an impact on the life of children because in society today many children have to feel pretty and beautiful before they even consider to leave the home, to face the outside world. They take their appearance very seriously, because for them if they were ugly, they would try many ways to look beautiful because beauty is one of the most important assets in their life. Lieberman stated that “Marriage is the fulcrum and major event of nearly every fairytale; it is the reward for girls or sometimes their punishment” (Pg. 386). There are women who have being saved by a prince and at the end gets married and live happily ever after. Many women fear the life of being alone and for this these women depends on the prince to do everything. But, the consequence to this is that it leaves these women helpless and hopeless. On the other hand, some of these women disobey the rules by refusing to be married because they want their own freedom and to express their own identity but this only leaves them being homeless because they family does not agree with that. This place an effect on children minds because it causes them to rush into things in life feelings as if time waits on no one which leads to bad decision
