Sandy Hook Shooting Conspiracies
On December Fourteen 2012 Adam Lanza allegedly drove to Sandy Hook Elementary, his old elementary school, and shot and killed twenty-six students and faculty, then turned the gun on himself before apprehension by police. The shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary was a tragic event, it’s hard not to sympathize with the families of those killed. There is a movement, however, that claims the shooting was fake (Spaeth). IT’s believed the shooting was staged in order to pave the way for stricter gun control (Salazar). Conspiracy theorists, calling themselves Truthers, have provided evidence to support their claims numerous times in attempts to convince the general population.
Truthers start by pointing out the FBI Crime
They demand the government to explain what really happened and that justice be fairly served. They have not had an open playing field, however, they received opposition at every move they make with explanations, counterarguments, and information from the government, police forces, first responders, and the residents of Newtown.
They argue the Sandy Hook shooting fell under the jurisdiction of the state police, a separate entity who is not necessarily obligated to report all crime statistics, not the federal police. Therefore the FBI crime report wouldn’t include the shooting as they had no direct involvement (Mikkelson). This, they claim, was carefully overlooked by the Truthers. With the Truthers support coming primarily from the conspiracy theory haven, InfoWars.com, it’s not hard to imagine the simple reality of Truthers out there just trying to make noise, or even just to continue to disprove the government (Bennent).
The oppositional forces also pointed out that the pictures of Emilie with the president was her younger sister Madeline. You can see the resemblance in Figure A. They explain the dress being the same from Figure A to Figure B by explaining that, in many families, when the older sibling outgrows their clothes, they give it to their younger siblings, in a fashion called hand-me-downs. Which is the case for Madeline and Emilie
“As Connecticut State Police spokesperson Lt. Paul Vance stated, ‘Were there other people detained? The answer is yes. In the height of battle, until you’ve determined who, what, when, where and why of everyone in existence ... that’s not unusual.’ ” (Mikkelson). Chris Manfredonia was set free when police discovered he was running through the woods because he heard “popping sounds” coming from the school. Fearing something had happened to his six year old daughter, he immediately raced to the school (Mikkelson). The unidentified man led from the forest in handcuffs wearing Camo and carrying a rifle, turned out to be a “tactical squad police officer from another town” (Mikkelson). Christopher Rodias name can be heard over the police radio, but he was busy during the shooting, and officers can account for it. He was busy being pulled over by police nowhere near the school, there are only so many ways to communicate long distance by radio and officers often accidently talk over one another. This is simply something police officers must deal
