The first amendment is a right that all citizens of the United States has which allows us to speak out our minds, lets us put our opinion on things that we disagree on. There have been many incidents on college campuses where students have used their right of free speech to speak out their opinion but have had faced backlash and some other students have used it to show what they believe in this including for example a confederate flag which is associated with something that the majority of citizens disagree with. In this article written by Lawrence he discusses a problem that we are facing on college campuses. Lawrence being a lawyer and an activist stands strong with the first amendment and believes strongly that everyone can speak out their minds, but he states that there should be a limitation to it. On college campuses he believes that they are the ones that suffer the most and that Universities aren't helping out their students. That these students shouldn't fear to go to classes because of students of white race are showing their harsh views of them. He believes that their educations shouldn't be interrupted because students are afraid to leave their dorm room. With the example of students hanging a Confederate flag outside of their room making it uncomfortable for the students and leaving them scared. University campuses should be a safe place for all students to receive equal education. Which I agree on, because so many incidents have been occurring these days which include white supremacist. There has been protest and many people's lives have been injured at points because of hate speech evolving into violence.
