The short story Araby written by James Joyce is focused on the life of a young boy, a young boy who has low expectations in this cruel world. He quickly learns that whether rich or poor, money will always be a necessity in life. James Joyce did not name the boy who is telling this story from first person point of view. He was angry not only for the useless trip to the mall, but he was mostly angry for the idea that he did not have any money to buy his crush a gift. He believes that without the purchase of a gift, the girl will never give him a re ightful chance. Not only is he feeling anger, but a sense of sadness as well.
