Hans Zimmer, born on September 12, 1957 in Frankfurt, Germany (Hans Zimmer Biography). Hans Zimmer is recognized as one of Hollywood’s most innovative musical talents (Hans-Zimmer.com), and has changed the way film scores are composed. With his special, and very unique approach using synthesizers and sampling; he has made a career and characterized his career (Zimmer, Hans Floria). Zimmer spent the earlier part of his career in the United Kingdom, and wrote jingles for commercials. Zimmer also enjoyed some fame while playing in the band The Buggles, which had a video on MTV called “ Video Killed the Radio Star” (Zimmer, Hans Floria). The name of it is Time, and it’s from the movie Inception. The song has very uplifting spirit, and is the song used at the end of the movie. Hans explains “ the song wraps up the movie and everything comes full circle, and I really feel like the song helps the viewer understand the concept” (Inception Hans Zimmer) The song starts with two piano notes playing while the cello players build up the tone. The string instruments take over the song and really start picking up the pace of the song with more of clear beat. After a few seconds a guitar starts to play in the background. Hans Zimmer uses the introduction of instruments in this piece very well. It feels like every time he introduces an instrument they get their two second solo in the song. The brass instruments really pick up the beat, and at this point the song is getting louder. At the end the song ends with the same two piano notes at the end. Inception had one of the hardest concepts to understand which is the one of dreaming. This song really feels like a dream. I strongly believe he will be seen as a Mozart or Beethoven, and his music will be studied as those greats are. He has revolutionized how we see music in films, and how the music itself has become such a big important part of films. Also the way he can create such of a destructive piece of music for a villain like The Joker, but also create something so uplifting as Time from Inception. Both with different styles, but both were so memorable to the fans of each movie. Even sometimes when you don’t have time to watch the movie, and simply put the soundtrack of the movie on and have the movie play in your head.
