what would you think about if all your family members were criminals back in the 1970s what would you do? Most people would be in insecure about talking about their personal life stories or would not discuss anything about family because they might feel ashamed about what their families have done the wrong decisions in the past. the Author has giving many examples when her father decided to steal books from a public library. Also, Stapinski’s father would still lobster from his night shift job. Also, her favored cousin was arrested for stealing about $200,000 from his employer which many people would never do something like this.Also, we know that Helene Stapinski was growing up into a rough neighborhood that they’re has been a lot of funerals that’s how Jersey City was becoming into a horrible place to live.
In fact, Stapinski experiences growing up in Church as another Agent of Socialization which she thought of the church really horrible because the nun would try on the big Tv that was black and white for hours and she did not really learning anything. Therefore, the church symbolized to value the life better even though she is living in a horrible city, and the church is proving a good environment and not seen the negative things in New Jersey
