“And they all lived happily ever after, the end.” At least, that’s how it happens in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is a film produced by Walt Disney Productions that is about a beautiful girl who is loathed by her stepmom, the Evil Queen. Because of the Evil Queen, Snow White is put in danger. The Evil Queen’s plans were ruined when Snow White was kissed by the prince and revived. This is just one of the many movies Walt Disney Productions has made, but a lot of them stem from stories written by Brothers Grimm. Disney movies are still fun, entertaining, and have their own twist. Disney movies may be entertaining, but many people agree that Grimm stories are better. Grimm movies are original and include new concepts, while Disney is constantly using the same ideas over and over again. Disney movies are repeating the same story lines over and over, but just change the characters. For example Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs is about an evil queen who hates Snow White and tries to kill her, but is stopped when a the price comes to save Snow White with a magical kiss. The same storyline shows up in the movie Tangled when Flynn Rider gets stabbed by Mother Gothel and Flynn’s true love, Rapunzel, is forced to save him with her magical tears. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Tangled aren’t the only movies with very similar plots. Both the Little Mermaid and Finding Nemo have very similar stories about the main character wandering out of their safe areas just because they are curious about what is above. These are lessons that children and adults could use to guide themselves in life decisions and in safety. One example comes from the film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs when she eats the poisonous apple given to her by a strange old lady. When Snow white took that apple there were fatal effects and Grimm cautions you to the dangers, but when Disney gives you a life lesson they are not always as clear and effective, in which case Grimm is better because they don’t sugar coat the lesson just so they don’t scare or offend anyone. Some people may argue that disney also introduces its own life lessons. An example one could give is that in the movie Bambi thumper says “If you can’t say somethin’ nice, don’t say nothin’ at all” (00:10:15-00:10:25). This is a good lesson to learn, but some people may think that this is not a lesson that will help you with safety like the Grimm tales will.
