Dirty Deals Michael Pollan bestowed a gung-ho attitude as he propelled through his quest investigating the quality of America’s food. Along his journey he ventured to make sporadic changes in his diet. He never claimed to make radical changes nor did he make self-righteous claims. Pollan derived at the conclusion to continue eating meat even after finding out how the animals are killed he did not seem very proud of that. He publically pondered over why quality of food takes lower priority than price. He stated, "When you think about it, it is odd that something as important to our health and general well-being as food is so often sold strictly on basis of price” (Pollan 244). Pollan showed courageous vulnerability and great strength as he trekked through the crafty food industry in The Omnivore’s Dilemma.…show more content…
This is the road less traveled and not many people have plowed through. Pollan 's transparency in The Omnivore 's Dilemma is admirable. He documented his own relatable grapple over food and morality. His distaste for the federal regulatory regime was exceedingly detectable when he exposed them by confirming accusations that grimy slaughterhouses are operated by many unqualified workers who do not place health or humane treatment as a high priority (250). Pollan even had the benefit of viewing both angles of the argument. He was given a firsthand view on how much blood, sweat and tears goes into producing quality foods. He also had knowledge about the food industry 's impure ways and the shortcuts taken to mass produce. A farmer named Bev identified that people who have issues with the food industry are generally upset over animal cruelty, pesticides, nutrition, or taste.
