A. INTRODUCTION
In the book: Creating a World Without Poverty, Muhammad Yunus expresses his ideas in solving the world's social problem. He explains his view in helping end poverty with the help on the potential of technology.Not only the global poverty that he wants to end but the problems which involves lack of focus to health care and education, gender discrimination, and inequality. He is looking forward to a more fair society for all.
Muhammad Yunus believes that social issues will be solved with the help of a social business. He elaborates about the details that social business would benefit the poor from its activities. One of Yunu's plan is his idea of a social stock market which investors who are socially focused would be interested about the buying and selling of shares in social businesses. He

It is where the poor uses the bank's money which they must pay back. Yunus tried to ask the bankers to expand the program but some of them do not believe in this concept. They could not accept the fact that the poor can actually pay back their loans. Some of them even questioned if the people is really poor since they can afford to repay the loans. Yunus explained that they are really poor and to show proof of it he dares them to visit the poors' homes and they will see not a single furniture. He added that the poor repay the loans through nothing but hardwork. Instead of encouraging the bankers to expand the program on a district level, they discourage Yunus and his students having some reasons not to pursue the expansion. After working so hard in pursuing the expansion that Yunus and his students are planning, they were able to succeed in 1983 with a new law created which was name as Grameen Bank. Many people have different opinions when it comes to dealing with poverty around the world. It is easy for those who live in rich, first world countries to sit back and ignore the problem that is at hand, however it is a better idea to examine the problem and look at possible solutions. Some liberal arguments try to convince people that a world food bank needs to be set up in order to solve the hunger problem on Earth, while others believe that by doing this we are only enabling these poor countries to stay hungry. At first glance, it seems that the obvious and correct way to deal with the situation would be to set up a world food bank. Wouldn’t the rich countries be selfish to not share some of the unneeded wealth that they have acquired? Many groups and organizations have investigated the future impacts of acting in favor or against the poor, and reasoning shows us that certain actions could be devastating. Although it sounds morbid and cruel, setting up a food bank would only bring the world as a whole down.
Many people do not realize that there are tens of millions of people in America who are living in poverty because they are stuck on the fact that America is one of the richest nations. People who are living in poverty barely have enough money to survive on basic necessities like food, shelter and electricity. They often have a hectic schedule filled with work, school, or other activities that they have to do in order for them to live a somewhat stable life. Unfortunately, there are others who are living in poverty that may be ill or disabled and barely able to survive even if they are receiving money to help with their situation. There are a few programs that help those in poverty with their financial problems, but they only help them to a certain extent. Changes need to be done to help alleviate the poverty rate because these people should not have to deal with all of these hardships or have such a negative perspective of life. Therefore, America can reduce its poverty by raising the minimum wage, making health care more accessible, and by making child care more affordable. These solutions will be a great start to reducing poverty and they will lead America into a brighter future.
Although Yunus is an economist by profession and his microfinance project does sound as an economic move, nevertheless the scope of it is much wider than targeting finances alone. He has a long term vision to eliminate poverty around the world and provide a better quality of life for those who are less fortunate and deprived of some secure financial background. The second measure is poverty gap index (P1) it measures the extent to which household fall under the poverty line (the poverty gaps) as a proportion of the poverty line. The addition of these poverty gaps gives the lowest cost of eradicating poverty, if transfers were perfectly targeted. But this measure does not show changes in inequality among the poor household. The third measurement is squared poverty gap (“poverty severity”) index (P2) it is averages the squares of the poverty gaps relative to the poverty line (All JH, 2005).
Microcredit can be defined as small loans, or microloans, for people around the world in extreme poverty to help spur entrepreneurship. The issue of microcredit is extremely important in the world’s economy. Poverty alleviation and economic development are the primary goals of microcredit programs, that is why they began in the developing countries of Asia and Latin America, economist Muhammad Yunus and his Grameen Bank in Bangladesh are credited of pioneering this financial innovation (Smith, Thurman, 2007). After acquiring a loan, impoverished people get involved in self-employment projects that help them to start a business and begin generating income and in many cases leave poverty. Microcredit offers loans to poor people without requesting any financial history from them. These loans help to improve the quality of life of individuals and communities through commitment. In recent years, the idea of giving small loans to poor people became the darling of the development world, giving a way to propel even the poorest people into better lives (Jolis, 2011).
In the world today there is a lot of poverty. There is a great divide
enhanced and faster communication, access to information and services. However, there are two different views on the role of technology in the poverty reduction i.e. to believe that technology is the panacea of the poverty reduction and to believe that technology has no significant and reasonable role in poverty reduction unless the primary need of the poor people is not met. The argument of the today will be highly deviated towards the positive effect of the technology in poverty reduction. Let me start the topic with the previous steps taken in the past through the various NGOs, INGOs and community based organizations to reduce poverty.
The Philippines has had a major problem ever since poverty has struck there. Especially when the typhoon hit the Philippines and where people lost their lives and homes and have nowhere else to live. Now poverty has affected a quarter percentage of the population and is still increasing. About 30% of the population is living under the poverty line. These statistics show that we need to do something about this poverty and end it; not only in the Philippines, but also in other places of the world. Can you just imagine how much suffering they are facing right now, while we take our things for granted. This will help the Philippines make it a better place to live. That’s why I am writing this essay to inform you on what we could do to abolish poverty.
Poverty is an issue which the world faces everyday. It is a constant struggle that cannot be ignored anymore. As you can see defeating poverty would take great efforts and contributions from all. We must better educate the youth and have education available for everyone all over the world. We also need to ensure that everyone has a job and that they are properly skilled for the job. People need to realize that poverty affects everyone, not only the poor and uneducated. Our world would be a much better place if everyone pitched in to help defeat a major problem around the world, poverty.
As developed countries quench their thirsts for petrol, developing countries around the world are left behind, force to watch on without any help from the outside community. Being poor means to be disadvantaged in every single way. It means not being able to support yourself or your family or have the basic necessity to life. Without substantial help for these helpless people then we should be feeling guilty that we are living lives far better than what others are experiencing. Poverty may because by wars, disease or lack of education and infrastructure and the resulting consequences may be hunger, starvation, crime and ultimately death. If poverty is not eradicated then injustice will continue, increasing death tolls and lives.
When I was younger poverty and homelessness seemed like such far out terms. I didn’t understand how someone didn’t live in a house with four walls and a roof over their head. When I thought about poverty, I always pictured third world countries most of the time. Especially due to the commercials of these places with the children crying, wearing scraps of cloth, and having to drink polluted water. In regard to homelessness, I had the views that usually appear in movies, disheveled people on the streets who have drug and alcohol problems. As I grew up I started to notice how each person has an important role in society, but I couldn’t see what their role could be. In school we didn’t really talk about these people either so I assumed they weren’t really apart of society. My parents combatted that with teaching us the ‘golden rule’ and treating others how you would want to be treated. There are some instances that they gave some money to these people. Since I had the views from what I saw on TV. I thought they would go spend it on drugs or alcohol. I remember asking my mom why give them money if they are going to spend it on those things. She said that that is not for me to worry about and that we do it
Causes and Solutions of World Poverty Poverty is prevalent throughout the world around us. We watch television and see famous people begging us to sponsor a child for only ten dollars a month. We think in our own minds that ten dollars is only pocket change, but to those children and their families, that ten dollars is a large portion of their annual income. We see images of starving children in far away countries, and our hearts go out to them. But we really do not know the implications of poverty, why it exists, or even what we can do to help combat this giant problem in our world.
Has anyone ever considered thinking about what the world is really going through? How many people don’t have the necessities in order to survive? If so, what are these people going through? Poverty is the state of one who lacks a standard or socially acceptable amount of money or material possessions. Sometimes events occur that changes a person’s perspective on life. Poverty is one that can have a huge effect on not only one person, but also the people around him/her. Over half of the world is going through this tragedy and we, being the ones who created it, have the responsibility to end it.
Poverty is one of the most serious world problems. In my opinion, the greatest obstacle towards the develop¬ment of an economy is poverty. The primary causes of underdevelopment have a strong relationship that they together form a circle which is vicious. This is called: “Vicious circle of poverty”. There are many different opinions about the so-called “vicious circle of poverty”. Many economists have their opinions about this topic. One of them is Ranger Nurkse. In his“Problems of Capital Formation in Underdeveloped Countries”, he wrote that: “Vicious circle of poverty is the basic cause of under-development of poor countries”. It was explained briefly by: “a country is poor because it is poor” or “Because it is poor, the country does not develop; because it does not develop, it remains poor”. That means the poor countries can not escape from the “poverty trap". Is the theory of “vicious circle of poverty” applicable to the present day economic reality of any post-socialist country? In this essay, I want to discuss the validity of the widely held notion that the underdeveloped post-socialist countries are caught in a vicious circle of poverty and stagnation.
