In this book, Courageous Leadership, Bill Hybels covers 10 different leadership styles and after reading the entire seventh chapter I will discuss two styles in this essay. It is important to learn about different leadership styles because whether in your workplace or ministry most of your team members will have a different leadership style. As a leader, knowing and understanding each style will help you identify which team members have which style so that you can utilize their leadership skills.

Style One: Entrepreneurial leadership

I have a lot of visions of new things that I could start but I am waiting for the right time to start them. I also love the challenge to prove people wrong when they do not believe something can be done or will work out. I like to help a ministry start up and become successful but after that I slowly loose interest. I think I have the entrepreneurial style because I am always wanting to start something new to reach more people for Jesus. I also think I have part of the visionary leadership too because I can see the vision of the new ministry and can cast that vision effectively.

The great thing about having entrepreneurial leaders is so that God’s Word can keep spreading. If we were not looking at new ways to spread the Gospel we would reach fewer people. Disadvantages of this style is they loose energy quickly if they aren’t starting something new and they can loose enthusiasm, focus, and even confidence. They then start looking for people who they see potential in so they can develop their abilities and then place them in the right job so the vision can start to happen. Unlike other people this leader has special insight that allows them to find the right people and see their potential. After this he leaves them with their responsibilities to get their work done. This leader does not so much manage the people they have put in place because they are confident in that persons skills that they believe they can manage
