Discrimination Against Immigrants
Even though there is a large amount of immigrants in the United States, why is there still discrimination towards immigrants? Some of these discriminations include: segregation, competition, lowly jobs, and inequality. However, according to Beau Sia and me these discriminations should not exist. Beau Sia believes that the main reason the United States allowed immigration is so that the immigrants could do the jobs that American citizens would not or are not willing to do. Despite this, they did not realize that immigrants (with hardwork) do have the capability of reaching the same position as the citizens of the first world. Which is why throughout the poem, “Conquered, Colonized, Colonialized,” Beau Sia states …show more content…

Sia mentions many things, which leave the audience thinking about the injustice that immigrants are given. Sia believes that the only reason the government of the United States allowed immigration was so that American’s would have someone there to do their dirty work. She clearly states this in a line from her quote, “…you gave us visas to do what you thought was beneath you…we are tired of sleeping where your waste it sent…”(Sia, 165) With this quote, It’s very noticeable that Sia has very strong and passionate feelings towards this topic because of all that she has been through, she is tired of all of this and wants a change. Third world problems include financial, hunger, and electricity. Where as first world problems would include the internet not working or the electricity going out for five minutes. The author, Sia, mentions some of the same problems by stating, “give our uncles houses with doors, our children education with computers, and our communities relief beer cannot provide.” (Sia, 165) This quote states a lot about the differences between the two worlds. The author is saying that the children that get the education in third worlds don’t even have an access to the Internet. Which is shocking because in the first world, if a student does not have access to the internet, it is not possible for them to pass the class because all of the classes require essays or online work. The quote also mentions that the relief that the third world countries get is not effective because third world countries need food and electricity. However it isn’t provided for them, which is wrong, the first world should contribute to helping out the third world. Just like the third world people immigrate to the United States to make it a better place, the United States should do something to help the
