A meme is a versatile idea that consists of amusing images, videos, or text. Kermit the Frog’s, “But That’s None of my Business” meme relies on the use of mockery to offend somebody with opposing views from the creator. However, the social critique embedded in this meme adds humor and lightheartedness. The purpose of a meme criticizing college students may be to jolt them back into a reality that they really aren’t all that ready for. The immediate argument focuses on procrastination, while furtively questioning the laziness and irresponsibility of college students. “But That’s None of my Business” memes use many other examples of social critique to express different opinions or ideas across. Especially through the use of logos, an appeal to logic, does the meme credit its ideas. Logical appeals provide reason and evidence in an argument. These memes may also appeal to emotion because of the ironic humor placed in them. The use of pathos stirs feelings and emotions, making the reader feel uncomfortable and forcing them to rethink their views. The use of logos and pathos together in this specific meme make for a hilarious, ironic comment towards a person blaming society for the majority of their issues. For example, this specific Kermit the Frog meme pursues the use of sarcastic humor in order to state their opinion on the said topic. This meme makes it extremely easy for the creators to secretly state their personal opinion because how many different forms of a particular meme are out in the world. The first example of the Kermit meme touches on a college student and their preparation for the real world. This example bases its ideas off of a grown person who is not taking accountability for their mistakes or problems. The versatility of the Kermit meme even continues into memes about love, hate, and current issues. The whole meme is extremely ironic and odd because of the character used versus what the text says. Many of these texts may imply sexist or racist comments, yet seem to be socially acceptable because a cute Muppet from our childhood is saying it. Reeves combined these rhetorical devices to make a compelling argument that although colleges are easily accessible, higher education lacks students with the capabilities of academic success. To validate this claim, Reeves uses persuasive appeals to convey an effective argument by influencing the audience, however, he limits his reach because of the excessive pathos and condescending tone used to present his argument.
Pathos is to illustrate emotions and it is to evoke emotions from the audience and this commercial is a perfect example. Because when watching this the sentimental feeling comes to the viewer and seeing how the customers are in a happy mood right away and how they react to the kindness that the employees are providing. Because when you watch this it makes you feel inspired. It was neat to see how the families reacted and hugged each other.
College is not for everyone, although, everyone should have some form of higher education. "Should everyone go to college?" is an essay meant to inform students of the pros and cons of going to college. Owens and Sawhill state that the cost of a college degree may not be worth the money that students put into furthering their education. In their article, Owens and Sawhill use three different rhetorical appeals; egos, logos, and pathos; to persuade the readers to think consciously about attending college. Their argument was effective because it forces the readers to look at the overall college experience in different aspects.

They are using emotions to build bridges, using emotions to sustain an argument, using humor, and using argument based on emotion. To build a bridge, the speaker makes the audience feel empathy for the situation. The speaker appeals to her or his own experience to gain sympathy early that way the audience will be more inclined to listen later. When utilizing emotion to strengthen an argument, it makes the claim stronger, because it can energize the situation. The story I chose for this analysis is “Why, you reckon?” by Langston Hughes. IN this analysis I will be focusing on how the great depression in Harlem had effect on the story, how racism played a part, and how or if the characters were justifyied in their actions. During this time period the intense racial divide combined with the economic harships that plagued the U.S. during the 1923’s makes for an interesting story that makes you think if the charaters were really justified.

Shows that give a visual of the arresting and investigation process (law enforcement) are the televisions shows “Cops” and “The First 48 Hours”. The show “Cops” is a television series that follows police officers, constables and sheriff deputies around during their patrol and other policing activity (Cops, n.d). Showing the officer enforcing the laws of the land, apprehend offenders, reducing and prevent crimes, maintain public order, provide emergency and related community services and more” (Schmalleger F., 2014).
