Case Study On Ashley Davis

Ashley Davis is a 14 year-old, brown-skinned, African-American, masculine presenting female. Ashley’s mother reports that patient is defiant, especially toward her and other authority figures. Mother reports that Ashley’s behavior disrupts the family, her ability to achieve in school and has landed her in legal trouble. Mother reports that the Ashley began to exhibit sexually promiscuous behavior starting as early as 9 years old. Her reason for referral and placement on the unit was due to Ashley’s mother, finding her and her twin brother naked together in a sexualized position, all while trying to record this interaction. When the mother questioned both Ashley and her brother, it seemed as though the Ashley was the aggressor. Ashley’s mother reports that patient use to take Seroquel, for reasons unreported. Ashley discontinued taking the medicine, because of how sleepy it made her. Ashley has been charged with assault, due to an incident where she attacked her teacher, which caused bodily harm to the teacher. Ashley was placed on probation for this incident. Ashley has a previous diagnosis of Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder and Oppositional Defiant Disorder. Ashley has poor judgment, is impulsive, and is defiant toward authority figures and peers. This affects Ashley’s ability to achieve to her fullest potential academically, and have positive interactions with adults, or peers. She also displays low frustration tolerance, and is easily triggered in situations and by other people. Her impulsive reactivity often worsen situations, especially due to the lack of insight Ashley has about her behaviors. Ashley’s inability to regulate her emotions heightens her reactivity in triggering situations.
