What does an outstanding teacher look like? discuss teaching methods that works best and those that do not using some kind of references.

According to the Teacher standard (DfE,2011) a teacher is expected to demonstrate constantly high level of personal and professional conduct by moulding and shaping pupils. Offering mixture of knowledge, skills collaborative activities, strategies, different educational theories, current policies and procedures and their reflective practice. This would further provide an opportunity to exercise their own judgement on what to teach, how to teach following national curriculum (DfE, 2011)

This is a slow and complex process that require time, goal orientation, support, feedback, evaluation, and successful practice, (Hattie,2009) Thus class based learning maximized when a teacher see learning through the eye of the pupil and when pupils start to see learning through the eye of the teacher as this reflects in to the learning process. teachers have to specify in advance what they are seeking to achieve and how to develop teaching stratagies.. how it is to be learnend and taught and assesses, evaluated and planned by looking at the strength and weakness of individual student. According to Mc Rorris (2006) teacher has a wide range of skills in their teaching practice, including questioning, listening, reinforcing positive behaviour, reacting and shifting from one role to another in a minute. All this involve to encourage pupils critical thinking and stretch their understanding beyond their zone of proximal development, (Vygostsk,1978) where pupil learn from someone more. Therefore, to make lessons interesting, teacher use student focused, dialogue oriented and teacher focused methods, such as direct instruction, lectures, question answers, research and encourage cooperative learning in order to motivate pupils and enhance their self-confidence.
Cooperative learning has shown to be more effective in motivation and working as a team. Johnson and Johnson (1995) research concludes that cooperative learning consistently produce higher self-efficiency scores and they learn to work as a team.
