AENY - Spanish Artists in New York & IATI Theater present the USA premiere of AN INVISIBLE PIECE OF THIS WORLD, written by Juan Diego Botto and directed by Ignacio García-Bustelo. An Invisible Piece of this World is a play about the timely exploration of the varied physical and emotional journey of immigrants to be presented at IATI Theater, located on 64 E. 4th Street, NY 10003. The show will run from April 27 to May 8, 2016. Award-winning Spanish actor and playwright Juan Diego Botto’s latest work is a revealing look at the hot-button issue of (im)migration from the perspectives of those who have experienced the loneliness, loss, and ultimate resolve. By bringing the stories of these individuals to the forefront, An Invisible Piece of this World humanizes the headline-making numbers and statistics. On hero alone there is in this play, the immigrant. This hero’s journey is told in multiple stories by the ensemble cast. Structured in a set of monologues, the director opted for this production an ensemble cast of five who at a given moment step into the shoes of immigrants who embark on a journey to the unknown. Each story is told as humane relief but also as a statement of activism. Botto has performed in more than 10 plays and written four full length plays. In 2013 he wrote and performed the play Un Trozo Invisible de Este Mundo (An Invisible Piece of This World) for which he received four Max awards, including best play, best actor, and best script.
