He was a body-builder, a soldier, an actor and a governor. He is Arnold Schwarzenegger. Arnold was born on July 30, 1947, in Austria. He moved to the United States in 1968. Shortly after, he debuted in his first film in New York. In 1975, he retired from body-building after winning numerous titles. Arnold became a U.S. citizen in 1983. He continued to star in movies throughout the 80s and 90s. In 2003, he was elected governor of California. Arnold has turned into a successful man due to his determination.

Looking at Arnold Schwarzenegger today, it is easy to get caught up in his accomplishments and achievements but his life was not always like this. Growing up was not a bright time in Arnold’s life. His father, Gustav, was a police officer in the local area where the family lived. He was also an alcoholic, who often came home drunk. “My hair was pulled and I was beat with belts,” (A+E Networks 1). Not only did Schwarzenegger have to endure physical abuse from his father but he also was emotionally abused. His older brother, who was more athletic, was favored by his dad. Gustav would make his sons fight to see which one was worthy of his love. Gustav forced Arnold to play sports in junior high so he played soccer, flag football and lifted weights.
Arnold quickly found a new love for weight lifting. He was inspired by his role model, Kurt Marnul, who became a body-builder. Going to the gym became an obsession as did becoming “bigger”. Like most body builders the weights don’t give them the satisfaction they need. Arnold’s dad grew worried about his obsession so he limited him to three nights a week at the gym. He is also proud of his life due to the fact that he has two kids that he is very involved in their lives with and a wife that is always there supporting him. Arnold is glad that he turned out the way he did due to the fact that he has become a great father figure and a role model for his kids. Arnold is also proud that his ex-wife and he can get along with each other. As an actor, he starred in several famous movies and won a Golden Globe Award for one of his roles. As the governor of California, he was elected by the people and also won re-election.

His determination and hard work have made Arnold Schwarzenegger the successful man that he is today. From body-builder to actor to governor, he has found success with each role he has played. He has done it all, he is Arnold Schwarzenegger
