Less Than Zero
What you need
Its not as easy as you think to throw a Rave, this sounds kind of easy, but it take takes a lot of hard work and dedication. The first thing you need is money, and the reason you need money is because you need to make a lot of deposits. If the cash flow isn’t that big then you get what are called investors, they put in their money and hope to get it back. After the money thing isn’t a problem any more then you need to look for a venue, which is not that hard any more because there are new venues everywhere, they’re just popping up. So you need book the venue. Now that you have the location for the date of your party the work begins.
Now you need DJ’s, which are not that hard to find. If you know someone then all you need is one booking manager’s number and the rest isn’t hard to find. Because the booking manager usually has other numbers to give to you. So you have a couple of DJ’s but that’s not enough you need at least one headliner DJ. A headliner is a big name DJ and they are usually a little more expensive than the others. Usually the big DJ’s need to be flown in. so a ticket has to be bought and a place to stay. So you need to get in touch with a travel agent. After you have all your DJ’s confirmed, you go off and meet with graphic designers who will design you a flyer. And you need to pay him for the work and for the flyers to get printed. After the flyers are printed then people need to go out and promote the Rave at other places. Anywhere that has the right kind of people.
This is not over yet. You need sound, there are a lot of people that do sound, and they bring cabinets of speakers the turn tables everything that’s needs to be brought are there. Usually they will ask you for a deposit. But if you know them it’s not a problem. After the sound is booked, you need to book the lights. So you need to find a person to set up your lights. And when dealing with sound and lights you don’t wan to deal with the cheaper kinds you want the best because the sound and lighting make a big difference.
Chasing Zero is a documentary which was meant to both educate the viewer on the prevalence of medical harm as well as to enlighten both the public and health care providers on the preventability of these events (Discovery, 2010). The documentary expounded on the fact each year more people die each year from a preventable medical error than die due to breast cancer, motor vehicle accidents or AIDS (Institute of Medicine, 1999). Medical harm can result from adverse drug events, surgical injuries, wrong-site surgery, suicides, restraint-related injuries, falls, burns, pressure ulcers and mistaken patient identities (Institute of Medicine, 1999). Incidences of medical error have been reported in the media for many years. The most startling revelation in the documentary is how common medical errors are and how preventable they are.
The nightclub, is an aged small wood structure in Rhode Island. The club is reported to have a capacity of 182 people. On February 20th 2003, more then 400 fans packed into the small club to see a band. Although there are discrepancies between reports of how many people were in attendance, it is obvious that the number is well over twice the club's capacity.
The rave scene. It’s becoming a popular way to ‘kick-back’ for high school and college kids. “Everyone” is doing it at parties. Unfortunately, this party isn’t all fun and games.
The exact origin of raves is unknown, though many say the gatherings are reminiscent of American Indian religious ceremonies, like pow-wows. The first modern raves are said to have occurred in English warehouses around 1987 and were focused around homosexual males. Since then, raves have grown more than anyone might think possible. With this growth has come evolution as well. Raves are now held in nearly almost city or town, whether it be heavily populated or in the middle of cornfields. Customarily, they are centered in abandoned warehouses decked out in black lights and strobes, but they have taken place on beaches, in caves, and virtually any other place with enough room for the 500-1500 person congregation.
Most brides spend months planning their wedding, and they want everything to be perfect. Weddings are exciting, but the bride needs to have fun before the wedding. A hen party can be wild or tamed. The party can be organized by the bride or her friends. If the bridal party organizes the hen party, they should know what the bride wants. Melbourne is the perfect city for a hen party. Whether the bride wants girly activities or fun outdoor activities, Melbourne has the perfect hen party daytime activities for all brides.
So began my two-year ethnography on the American rave subculture. The scene described above was my initiation into the underground subculture where rave kids, typically under twenty-one years old, are given secret invitations to attend private warehouse parties with dancing, drugs, and thousands of their closest friends. Because of my youthful and unorthodox appearance, I was invited to join the then-highly-exclusive underground scene and attended numerous raves in several major cities in North Carolina. Although my chosen subculture was not typically examined by academia, I conducted an academic ethnography of what Maton (1993) describes as a "group whose world views, values and practices diverge from mainstream North American and social science cultures" (747). As a result, I received three graduate credit hours for "supervised research in ethnography" and conducted what may be the only academic ethnography on raves.
My last guest is music artist Ja Rule. He is a rap/ hip hop artist, but his voice and appearance is really nice. I wanted him to come to my party to not only be a guest but to perform, that is what the music equipment is for.
Rave culture is highly attractive to the youth audience in general, regardless of class or ethnic background. Raves are non-elitist, and are primarily for the working class. This makes Raves quit different from all other postmodern sub-cultures. The legalization of a Rave has not prevented the illegal taking of the drugs. This means that there are a lot of young people indulging in Rave culture and recreational drug taking every weekend.
The job of a DJ is to play music wherever there is an event that people want to ensure is memorable. This also includes those destination wedding ceremonies that people are now taking full advantage of. The people like having more intimate settings to say their vows in. They may have a special attachment to the area because it played a role in their relationship or it may simply be something that they have always dreamed of. Either way, it is something they will want romanticized in every way possible. The DJ must figure out how to
Rave Music is made up of technologically advanced beats that are mixed with other beats to form music. Rave Music has a culture of its own, as so does any other music type. The history of Rave Music is hard to sum up, but here it goes...
Make a list of everyone you want to attend and do not forget their family members who may come with them. You may want to allow everyone to bring a friend if they are single, or you suspect they will come alone. Fill out your invitations and get them in the mail at least two weeks before your event. Now you are ready to get down to the details of the party!
First, you should prepare the invitation list to be able to know how many guests you want to invite. Above all, you should make the difficult choice of who to invite and who not to. For instance, on Christmas Eve, which is also my birthday, I would like to do a small dinner gathering my closest friends and family. I wouldn't invite a lot of people since my house wouldn't fit the whole village. Instead, I would invite the people who are the closest to me. Moreover, you should prepare and send the invitation cards. Because of the fact that it is a special occasion, the card shows its importance. Further more, it is equally important to receive the invitation's response. It is the numbe...
First step to planning a party, is to decide on a date, time, and location. You will need to make sure that the date, time and location is convenient for the person, you are throwing the party for. You also need to make sure that it is a day that people are off of work, more like a weekend and not a Sunday. That is the beginning of the week for some people.
For the bride, this is called the bachelorette party and for the groom, this is call the bachelor party. For that night, the bride and groom go their separate ways with their bridesmaids and groomsmen. The bachelor and bachelorette party are considered the last night being “single” because the very next day, they will be promising to stay together with the other for the rest of their lives. Some people go all out with these parties and go to vegas or somewhere like that to celebrate. Other might prefer a more calm celebration and maybe just going out to a winery. It all depends on what the bride and groom prefer. If they are planning on going all out with their celebration, then things must be planned and booked ahead of time. They need to book the place or hotel room or tickets for whatever they plan on doing. Waiting til the last minute could end up ruining the party when they can’t get in anywhere they wanted to
