After reading “Something About the Subject”, when the writer says that racism is very simple in structure but difficult to eliminate, that’s very true. Racism has taken roots so deep to the point many people have come to accept it as part of life. This is not good, because, having that assumption makes racism to keep on growing further and the roots getting deeper. And I will also agree with the writer, we cannot eradicate racism with mere conferences and heated arguments, more has to be done to combat this monster.
We need to go back to the root cause. Racism goes hand in hand with oppression, this is where one group thinks it’s superior to the other and oppressing them, making the group feel unwanted or invaluable. Unless we start to see each other as human, but not just people with different colors, no matter what we do it will be difficult.
People need to be educated about racism, and the different types of racism. From the text racism can be put in four categories. Aware/blatant, aware/covert, unaware/unintentional, unaware/self-righteous. Many …show more content…

On a personal level you need to examine yourself conscious and see if what you are doing to another person if it’s done to you, will you be happy? From a societal point people should never be influenced negatively by your society, if you live in a racist society that is not a guarantee ticket for you to be racist. Society doesn’t change people, its people to change society because without people there is no society. I will also agree with the writer, when we say “melting pot”, I think the pot over-melted and made us generics, people should learn their history and appreciate it, people identify with black, white or colored, but that’s not who we really
