After reading “Something About the Subject”, when the writer says that racism is very simple in structure but difficult to eliminate, that’s very true. Racism has taken roots so deep to the point many people have come to accept it as part of life. This is not good, because, having that assumption makes racism to keep on growing further and the roots getting deeper. And I will also agree with the writer, we cannot eradicate racism with mere conferences and heated arguments, more has to be done to combat this monster.
We need to go back to the root cause. Racism goes hand in hand with oppression, this is where one group thinks it’s superior to the other and oppressing them, making the group feel unwanted or invaluable. Unless we start to see each other as human, but not just people with different colors, no matter what we do it will be difficult.
People need to be educated about racism, and the different types of racism. From the text racism can be put in four categories. Aware/blatant, aware/covert, unaware/unintentional, unaware/self-righteous. Many

On a personal level you need to examine yourself conscious and see if what you are doing to another person if it’s done to you, will you be happy? From a societal point people should never be influenced negatively by your society, if you live in a racist society that is not a guarantee ticket for you to be racist. Society doesn’t change people, its people to change society because without people there is no society. I will also agree with the writer, when we say “melting pot”, I think the pot over-melted and made us generics, people should learn their history and appreciate it, people identify with black, white or colored, but that’s not who we really
All around the news today we hear about polices killing innocent African Americans because of their own personal prejudice against them. Thousands of African Americans have died because of this prejudice and most were innocent and unarmed. Some people might ask how racism still exists after the Civil Wars? Or how can we do something about this and make racism go away?
The issue of racism was a matter of life and death before the civil rights movement. But after almost sixty years, it still seems that racism has not yet been abolished in the minds of some Americans. Granted, some racial minorities have not helped their cause by becoming racial stereotypes for the purposes of humor on television and movies. Some even cry racism when not applicable, most notably the Reverends Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson. But not all people who cry racism are just pulling out the race card...
Though racism seems to be a thing of the past, there is still room for progression in the United States. Having been a country that was widely accepting of the enslavement of African Americans over a century ago, many Americans have not evolved nor turned the page on the subject. Despite the many movements, trials, and acts developed by our society to ensure civil rights to all African Americans, America remains a principally racist country. The only effective way to defeat racism is to not practice or teach what was once taught one hundred years ago. Author Alex Haley is quoted, “Racism is taught in our society, it is not automatic. It is learned behavior toward persons with dissimilar physical characteristics.” If we do not teach our youth of prejudice or hatred towards human beings for something as trivial as differing skin color I believe racism, not only concentrated in the United States, but globally, will diminish.
A solution is not far away. To overcome a problem one must recognize the problems existence, which we have, for many decades. So that is why it seems the progress we have made over the years is screeching to a halt. We no longer need to blame the past to look to the future, we have substantially moved past the denial and recognition stage of this reoccurring problem world wide and for centuries. So it does no more good to continue to reinstate blame on many who no longer see the problem. The way to end the race debate is not necessarily to ignore it, but not to light up a debate that has proven to be extremely flammable and a powerful divider of people.
Throughout our country’s history, many groups of people have experienced racism, from the Chinese immigrants that helped build the country’s railroads to the Polish craftsmen that helped build the glass making and wood working industries. Our early society had shown that no ethnic group was immune from racism. However, some ethnic groups have seen it slowly fade and almost disappear, but one group of people has not been so lucky. The African Americans have been more exposed to racism than any other people. Every day, as seen on the news and the internet, Caucasians and African Americans are hurting each other in one way or another, because of their race. Racism has been around for a long time, it is an ongoing problem that our society
Racism seems to be a growing problem in America, and it should be diminishing as our society progresses. Many acts of racism shown in The Power of One have reoccurred recently.
When it comes to contemporary racism, certain groups (usually the majority) believe this topic is no longer a problem. That the problem only continues to exist because people continue to talk about racism; acknowledging it as a topic also makes people think it’s still a problem. These loose ideas and frames are a way or an excuse to justify whites and keep their white supremacy. To Bonilla- Silva the way to fight
The education on racism is failing as issues of racism continue. Issues of racism are still ongoing today even though public awareness campaigns are abundant. The way we educate people about the negative effects of racism needs to change. Racism needs to go, it’s been centuries while coloured people have been on the receiving end of racism as seen in the book To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. Racism needs to change for the better, as it has been around for centuries, and still is in some parts of this world like the southern states of America. Some people believe racism is no longer present, but this is not the case.
Many Americans assume that racism has been eradicated and simply has stayed in the past, in the eras of Jim Crow and the pre-Civil Rights movement. However, this is not the case, racism is still present in society today. While most people understand racism to be the belief that one race is superior to another; the definition of racism is more complex than that. Racism today is not like it once was, today it is manifested through micro-aggressions like locking your door at a red light in a “ghetto” neighborhood or the socially nuanced lunch room in school where the students segregate themselves by choice into groups of their own race or creed. Today’s racism is filled with fear of the other and the belief that both
Racism is one of the most revolting things within the vicinity of humanity. Many times it haunts our past, degrading our future. However, a good fraction o...
Racism is one of the world’s major issues today. Many people are not aware of how much racism still exists in our schools workforces, and anywhere else where social lives are occurring. It is obvious that racism is bad as it was many decades ago but it sure has not gone away. Racism very much exists and it is about time that people need to start thinking about the instigations and solutions to this matter. Many people believe that it depends on if a person was brought into the world as a racist or not but that is not the case at all. In fact, an individual cannot be born a racist but only learn to become one as they grow from child to adulthood. Basic causes, mainstream, institutions, government, anti racism groups, and even some hidden events in Canada’s past are a few of the possible instigations and solutions to racism.

Racism is a topic that several do not like to discuss due many different scenarios. People, cultures, and beliefs have been torture¬d from past events. Individuals, young and old, within today’s society have experienced racism in some shape or form. The subject of racism is something that people view differently. There are some who view it as okay, and those who are against it. The beginning of racism began during the time of the ancient civilizations which lead to events that caused short term effects such as the depression of those hurt by the September 11, 2001 attacks, and long term effects like Jewish mistreatment. The explanation of while different events happened are hard to come about, although an idea of the reasoning comes down to scientific racism.
In the world today, racism and discrimination is one of the major issues being faced with. Racism has existed throughout the world for centuries and has been the primary reasons for wars, conflicts, and other human calamities all over the planet. It has been a part of America since the European colonization of North America beginning in the 17th century. Many people are not aware of how much racism still exist in our schools, workforces, and anywhere else that social lives are occurring. It started from slavery in America to caste partiality in India, down to the Holocaust in Europe during World War II.
Racism is a huge social problem in the world today. Many races today are being discriminated for being a certain race. Racism has been a social problem for a quite long time now, and it is still a social problem. The vast majority are being discriminated because of a certain group of a race, or person, done something that was awful, but this does not mean the whole race is to blame for the actions of others. Other races are looked down upon because of the color of their skin or maybe because they look very different. Racism has led up to genocide because one group fears another, or because of the way a race looks. A person who is racist is not born racist, they are taught to be racist or they see other people being racist, and they want to
