“I’m a twenty-six-year-old man, exceptional only in that I’m incredibly ugly.” Says Beast with a Limp (Strayed 149). Beast with a Limp is man who was born with a blood disorder that makes him look different. He has “physical deformities and joint abnormalities” (149), Beauty with a Limp wrote to Cheryl Strayed, a famous author, who responds with an essay form called “Beauty and the Beast” from her book Tiny Beautiful Things. He believes that since he’s not attractive he won’t find true romantic love and he’s questioning himself if he should continue moving forward or if he should give up. She wants to persuade readers to continue to search for love. She tells the Beast with a Limp “You will never have my permission to close yourself off to love and give up” (154). Strayed does not want the man with the limp to give up on love and should always continue searching for love because that day would come. Cheryl Strayed wants Limp to believe in himself and want him to understand that he’s going to hit some bumps trying to find love but to never give up. “The journey you take to find love isn’t going to be average either. She wants to connect the reader with strength, love and warmth by briefly describing the fairy tale “Beauty and the Beast”. In the fairy tale the Beast wasn’t someone who was attracting according to Belle the beautiful young lady who the Beast was in love with. But then Belle came to a sense and realized she admired him.
