The tremendous impact that oceans have on our planet engender how we live our lives on this earth. In this respect, we can agree that our lives depend on oceans and their many contributions to the earths environmental services. The oceans are a part of what make our planet different from any other planet in the solar system. Incidentally, oceans take up more than two thirds of the total world; other than giving us a form of outdoor recreation many people seek out the ecosystem services by visiting the beach it is a place where people utilize the invaluable aesthetic and spiritual value of the ocean. Some travel beneath the surface to have fun and explore its beautiful habitats. The ocean is an immense structure that sustains life on earth .
As such, without the oceans we would not be able to breathe due to fact that various organisms that live in the oceanic environment such as phytoplankton and stromatolites which create oxygen and help us to stay alive and allow .Aquaculture plays an important part in the ocean's services by bringing within the realm of possibility a new way of food production around the world by making sustainable long- term practices available, and food security as well as environmental costs being leveled.
Furthermore, when it comes to the worlds food source, we rely on the ocean for ''$21 trillion in food'' , due to fisherman fishing frequently for people's meals and as a means of income. Seafood being a dominant food source in the human race because of its nutritional and abundance of omega 3, protein and other mineral substances that are beneficial to maintain health, therefore, bestows the ocean's additional services upon us. In addition, to many of the animals that live among us they a...

Earth's oceans make up over 75% of the Earth as a whole. With that being said, it is vital to understand the significance on the contents of the oceans. Since fish and marine products make up a large portion of our diet, fishing practices need to be properly managed. In this essay, overfishing will be defined, its consequences will be revealed, and plans for proper fish distribution will be executed.
marine life and give the local ecosystem a boost” (Ocean Leadership, pg1). With the help of
The ocean is an abundant source of life. It is home to thousand of different creatures, provides a great source of food, and provides the earth with about one half of the oxygen needed to sustain life. (National Geographic) Pollution especially plastic, is a catastrophic problem. Ironically plastic, which is a material designed to last forever is generally used for things we tend to throw away. Every year about one hundred to two hundred billion pounds of plastic are manufactured. Only 31% of that plastic is actually recycled. Biomass packaging estimates 10% of that plastic ends up in the ocean annually. About 20% of it coming from ships and other platforms, and the other 80% coming from land derived sources, such as international garbage dumping, winds or tides either way it finds its way to the ocean.(Biomass Packaging Co., et al)
Everything in this world we use comes from the ocean in some way. The air we breathe, the water we drink, even the products we use day to day, would not be possible without the ocean. That's why the issue of ocean pollution is so important and needs to be addressed as soon as possible. We depend on the ocean for so much in our life, without it we would surely become extinct. People seem to think that since the ocean is so large and vast, we can dump as much waste as we'd like into it and it will never have an effect on us. However, since we've been polluting the ocean as far back as Roman times, the evidence of ocean pollution becoming a major problem is all too clear.
“Ocean overfishing is simply the taking of wildlife from the sea at rates too high for fished species to replace themselves. The earliest overfishing occurred in the early 1800s when humans, seeking blubber for lamp oil, decimated the whale population.” (overfishing) By the mid 1900’s common fish such as Atlantic Cod, Herring, and California Sardines were on the brink of extinction due to overharvesting. In the 20th century international efforts were focused on harvesting vitamin rich food at an affordable price. Therefore an international rise in fish occurred. In 1989 90 million tons of fish and various bycatch were taken from the ocean. Since 1989 fish populations have not been able to rebound therefore harming the environment, and the economy. A scientific study in 2003 reported “industrial fishing had reduced the number of large ocean fish to just 10 percent of their pre-industrial population.” (overfishing) With the collapse of these once large fish populations fishermen have started to fish in deeper waters. With commercial fleets fishing deeper into the ocean the balance of the oceans biological system is beginning to become upset. A 2006 study reporte...
Pollution has a big effect on are oceans. There's so many causes and it all leads up to one effect which is pollution. The ocean covers up ninety-seven percent of are world's water supply. Seventy percent of the oxygen we breathe is produced by some marine plants. So clearly ocean and its water is are main thing that keeps us alive. Pollution is unhealthy and horrible because there's a lot of plastic in the oceans, land based pollutants, and the careless human interventions.
Oceans are extremely important, especially since 72% of the Earth's surface is oceans (Frank 12). Not to mention all the other resources that they provide the world with. According to Mary Kate Frank, author of "Saving the World's Oceans", she says, "humans couldn't live on Earth without the ocean" (14). She goes on to say that oceans produce more than half of the Earth's oxygen and provides much of food (14). The oceans also regulate the climate, and gives energy in forms of wave, wind, and tidal power (14). In addition, the oceans contribute to the world's economy by holding more than 90% of world trade (14). "The ocean is the trading route for the planet", is what the NOAA says about the oceans connection to trade. By sea a bunch of different products are traded and collected amount of about $352 billion by U.S. GDP (NOAA). Moreover, Frank says that even though the oceans play an essential role in all these areas, "the most important things the waters offer . . . is their wealth of biodiversity" (14). According to Frank and scientists, "with nearly every deep-sea voyage, scientists find new species" and "as much as 95% of the ocean remains unexplored" (14). All this biodiversity, which some is yet to be discovered, is a key part for many studies and

First of all, among the top issues we face as a planet today, trash dumped into the ocean is increasing every year. Fourteen billion pounds to be exact. (ECO360 Plastic Garbage 1) It’s quite selfish of us humans actually. We are cleaning up our terrestrial world, but what about the marine animals? What are we doing to the marine animals’ home? We are destroying it. (A Global Map of Human Impacts on Marine Ecosystems) In fact, we are destroying them too. Forty percent of all ocean ecosystems has been impacted by pollution. (A Global Map of Human Impacts on Marine Ecosystems) As well as the organisms’ suffering in illnesses. They now face problems like an increase in cancer cases, birth deformities, incorrect bodily functions, and more. (The Effects of Ocean

In the world, there are many animals, both terrestrial and aquatic animals that we know and never know before. Plankton is the one organism that we have probably ever heard its reputation. Someone may know plankton is midget living thing in the sea and as food for animals. It was the best meal of life on the water. Moreover, its dwelling is completely place and a center of the most fishes and plantings. Although people would think the plankton is only food for sea animals but it can be useful to people for take care of various organs in the body and will be creating beauty cosmetics for woman, and human should be aware about ecosystem services to maintain plankton.
Earth is the only planet in the Solar System that has liquid water. The ocean contains ninety seven percent of the earth’s water and covers almost three quarters of the planet. There are four different oceans, the Pacific, Atlantic, Indian, and the Arctic. Tides and currents occur in all three of these oceans. Many different kinds of fish and mammals also make their homes in these oceans. All of these oceans are connected to each other in some way. Humans find oceans to be very interesting, beautiful, and exploring.
The ocean can serve man purposes things for many different people; as a school, a home, a park...
