Have you ever been in a conflict with someone? If so, you can relate to the American Revolution. There are major differences of course, such as you probably didn’t need to make an army. The American Revolution occurred because of a new tax and new laws. This new law was called the Proclamation, that restricted the amount of land that the colonist had fought for. This gave the Indians more land so everyone was happy and didn’t get into more conflicts to start a war. Britain's reason behind the Proclamation was because they were in debt of how many wars they were in. They taxed the colonist to help pay off the debt and restricted them from getting into more battles. The war ended in Yorktown, Virginia in 1781 but, it didn’t officially end
During the 1700’s the Britain Colonist decided to declare war against Great Britain. The war began due to friction between the British colonists over the King's policies. The colonist eventually lost their patience and started a revolution. High taxes, and no religious freedom led the colonist to fight for self government.
During the War for American Independence, 78 men were commissioned as general officers into the Continental Army by the Continental Congress. Many of these generals commanded troops with differing levels of competence and success. George Washington is typically seen as most important general, however throughout the war a number of his subordinates were able to distinguish themselves amongst their peers. One such general was Nathanael Greene. At the end of the Revolutionary War, Greene would become Washington’s most important subordinate, as demonstrated by Edward Lengel’s assessment of Greene as “the youngest and most capable of Washington’s generals.” Washington and Greene developed a strong, positive and close relationship between themselves. Greene began his life in the military after having been raised a Quaker. With limited access to literature and knowledge in his younger years, Greene became an avid reader which equipped him with the knowledge necessary to excel as a general during the war. Through his devoted study of military operations, firsthand experience and natural abilities as a soldier, Greene became an excellent military commander. He would become known for his successful southern campaign, during which, he loosened British control of the South and helped lead the war to its climax at Yorktown. Throughout the war, he was involved in a number high profile battles where he built a reputation of being an elite strategist who also understood unconventional warfare, logistics, and the importance of military-civil affairs and had a natural political/social acumen. The revolutionary war of 1775 – 1783 was a victorious military uprising against Great Britain of 13 American colonies which merged to form United States of America in 1776. Initially, the war was between the colonies and Great Britain but it escalated to involve other countries such as Spain and France. The taxes imposed on Americans by the British parliament were the cause of the war. Many Americans felt that the taxes were unlawful hence they started resisting (Greene & Pole, 2008). In 1774, the rebellion started officially when the Patriot Suffolk Resolves successfully eradicated the legal government of the province of Massachusetts Bay (Greene & Pole, 2008). After two years of fighting, the rebels had seized control of all thirteen colonies and they declared their independence.
The American Revolution (1775-1783) was a war between England and the colonies which were settled earlier by the English. There were many factors and events that led to the American Revolution. The Revolution was mainly an economic rebellion that was fueled by taxation without representation following the French and Indian War. The English Parliament was more often than not considered cruel and unfair by the colonists. With conflicts over trade, taxes and government representation, the colonies were at a starting line of a revolution that would later transform into the basis of the United States of America.
The American Revolution, or otherwise known as the American War of Independence, took place between the years of 1775-1783. The war was fought between Great Britain and the 13 British North American colonies. The American Revolution caused a series of traumatic events. The American colonists were justified in waging war because the British seized the rights of the colonists, the American colonists did not have a say in Parliament, the Boston Massacre, and incoherent decisions involving taxes by the British King. For example, the British were believed to have too much power.
A- John Adams- A Massachusetts lawyer and politician, John Adams was the one that defended the British shooters at the Boston Massacre. He went on to join the meeting at the First Continental Congress in Philadelphia in 1774. Adams and the rest of the Congress wanted there to be an end to the Intolerable acts that were put on the Colonies by the British, and they wanted to have their own government, instead of the British governing them. This lead to the start of the Revolutionary War. John Adams was one of the delegates from Massachusetts to sign the Declaration of Independence.
“Is there a single trait of resemblance between those few towns and a great and growing people spread over a vast quarter of the globe, separated by a mighty ocean?” This question posed by Edmund Burke was in the hearts of nearly every colonist before the colonies gained their independence from Britain. The colonists’ heritage was largely British, as was their outlook on a great array of subjects; however, the position and prejudices they held concerning their independence were comprised entirely from American ingenuity. This identity crisis of these “British Americans” played an enormous role in the colonists’ battle for independence, and paved the road to revolution.
The American Revolution was sparked by a myriad of causes. These causes in themselves could not have sparked such a massive rebellion in the nation, but as the problems of the colonies cumulated, their collective impact spilt over and the American Revolution ensued. Many say that this war could have been easily avoided and was poorly handled by both sides, British and American; but as one will see, the frame of thought of the colonists was poorly suited to accept British measures which sought to “overstep” it’s power in the Americas. Because of this mindset, colonists developed a deep resentment of British rule and policies; and as events culminated, there was no means to avoid revolution and no way to turn back.
Henry starts his case by asking questions regarding the military presence in the colonies. Henry asks, “Can you assign any other possible motive for it?” referring to why British are militarizing in the colonies. Henry fears a war is imminent and uses emotional language to emphasize the importance of the British soldiers. Henry reasons his case by asking rhetorical questions concerning the British occupation. After asking all these questions Henry and his audience soon come to realize the only viable answer to many of the questions is war. Henry knows the colonists must act now for if not now than when.
The British made the war for American independence inevitable; they imposed new policies that made colonists desire independence even more. Tax polices, republicanism, as well as, the spreading of revolutionary ideas all took part of strengthening the colonials’ rebellion against British rule. After Great Britain put in effect polices to oppress the colonists, they could do nothing but watch the revolution against them unfold.
Every year on the 4th of July we celebrate the birth of the United States by our declaring independence from England. While this event is a source of pride and its legacy contributes to what it means to be an American, I believe many people do not fully appreciate the events that led up to and followed the founding of our country. The outcome of the Revolutionary War was a profound adjustment for almost everybody in the New World. It was favorable for some, and yet put others at a severe disadvantage. To more fully appreciate our tradition to celebrate our independence we have to recognize the significance of the circumstances that brought our nation into rebellion and the consequences of our victory after the war.

Where the colonies militia fought beside the troops of the British army and learned war first hand. After winning the war, Britain had a large debt 140 million pounds. To pay these expenses, it was reasoned that taxing the colonies should pay the debt. The war had been fought to protect the land of the Ohio River Valley, land that was part of the colonies.

The American Revolution began as a conflict over political and social change, but soon developed into a dispute over personal rights and political liberty. A decade of conflicts between the British government and the Americans, starting with the Stamp Act in 1765 that eventually led to war in 1775, along with The Declaration of Independence in 1776. Americans united as one and knew that they wanted to be an independent country, have their own laws, rights, and not be a colony of the Great Britain. They fought hard for their independence and people lost their lives in the process of it, but in the end they succeeded. Never give up, keep fighting till the mission is accomplished, just like the Americans did when they were fighting for their independence.
