The first time event that I remember best is my first time in Blue Water. It was a life altering event for me, and I am thankful for it. I forgot what the most important thing in life was, and I became a bad person and I did bad things, in turn ended me up in jail. I have to admit it at first I was scared so bad I was sick to my stomach. I remember the thoughts that were going through my head. I kept thinking about all the movies I have seen about jail, that just made it worse, and it really bothered me that I would have to get a strip search.
Once I was there, it had a smell that I could never forget; it was a sterile smell but at the same time grungy. I had to strip in front of a guard. He took my clothes and gave me burgundy shirt and sweat pants. After your search they take you to the doctors to look at you and see if you have any problems. Then a guard will take you to the admission house, it was called Trent House. Trent has 18 hour lock up and half an hour outside time. When you are in that house it has very limited privileges, also it has big, thick metal doors that have huge locks on them.
When I walked into the range I was scared, but I was trying to look like I wasn’t. When I got out of my room, I had one guy come up and tell me to fight someone, and told me if I didn’t that him and three other guys would jump me. The way people handle things in there is extremely different then the way people do in society. You have to fight for your respect, and that’s all that counts. I found myself not as afraid once you have some respect. Its not exactly like real jail, people don’t get raped or killed, but in a way it is in the fact fighting solves all problems.
When I was transferred to Georgian House I got that feeling in my stomach again, because Georgian held people that have worse crimes and have been there longer. It was the exact same, fight and people won’t bother you. We showered alone, and we only got a little paper cup of shampoo and a little bar of soap.
Prison is a very strict place. The building is surrounded by security guards and a huge
Since stress and sleep apnea are reasons behind sleep terrors, all three of them have similar affects such as daytime tiredness preventing the child from being fully alert during school, and other activities they participate in (“Sleep Terrors,” 2014). There is not a cure for night terrors but things that can be done to reduce them. Making sure the person goes to sleep stress-free will make the night terrors happen less while the person is sleeping. Another way is to make sure the child has a very relaxed routine before going to bed such as reading a book (“Sleep Terrors,”
Times Square finds itself in a city whose complexity in culture and spontaneity in character, often leaving its visitors as mere spectators, contrasts sharply with the perspective of an organized tourist industry. However, the creation of some destinations from scratch, completely repurposed districts, and the organization of the chaotic life in New York into something safe and consumable have no doubt made Times Square a place to visit as well as ridding it of many neg...
After about one and a half of hour after falling asleep, just before the REM phase at slow-wave sleep phase, night terrors usually happen. There is a solid family and genetic link for these terrors, and most often happen in several members of a family. Some negative emotional events, which affect your mind greatly, can cause sleep terrors as well, because night terrors often connected to anxiety and depressive disorders. When terrors happen, they could causes unresponsiveness, confusion, disorientation or amnesia temporarily; or dreamers, may do some dangerous actions. In the worst case, these terrors have serious and even fatal effects, when the dreamers try to escape from bed or to fight, which hurt dreamers consequently. These will affect the individual’s relationship with others as well.
Nightmares are defined as repeated awakenings from the major sleep period or naps with detailed recall of extended and extremely frightening dreams, usually involving threats to survival, security, or self-esteem. The awakenings generally occur during the second half of the sleep period also know as the REM stage of sleep (Psych Central, 2013). Nightmares affect all ages, but children seem to have such dreams more often. Nightmare disorder should not be confused with night terrors, for they have a different effect on the dreamer. Night terrors are episodes of panic and confusion, with difficulty walking or bringing to awareness, and of which the sufferer has no recollection (Kavanagh, 2010). Major differences between both is that nightmares are vivid images, while night terrors are feelings or emotions that can not be recollected. Also, as stated before, nightmares occur during the REM stage of sleep. In contrast, night terrors occur during the non-REM stage which happens within the first 3-4 hours of sleep. Although both nightmare and night terrors bring great discomfort to the individual, it is important to note that they are different disorders.
New York City has always been an example of how diversity can exist in a successful and peaceful place. Full of action, enthusiasm, and a combination of many cultures, New York is rich in every sense of the word. For example, taking a walk down the busy streets not only opens your eyes to the small but meaningful details of the city and the different people that revive it but also the numerous worlds that are somehow fused in this magical city, like Little Italy, Chinatown, Little Syria, Korea Town, and many others.
8 years of age walking on a dirt road looking at bizarre houses in a strange land but yet so familiar. it was 2004 my parents felt that there kids were losing touch with their culture and become too americanized. they decided to take us to iraq to show us the ways of our people the land we truly belong not the place we live in. that was the first time i been to iraq i lived there for 2 years while the country was extremely dangerous. i have seen many things that most children in america will probably never witness. some violent but most was the difference between america and iraq culture, the houses the roads the traditions even the way people dress and act. it was all influenced from different religions and landscape, it gave me a deeper appreciation
I’ve been locked up for 14 years i’ve tried to escape any way I could find.Every day I had to march to my cold cell and they’d tormented us for 30 minutes. They forced us eat canned dog food and buy overpriced water .Trying to not kill your aggravating inmates seven times a day was the hardest part of it all . We had to dress in these horrid jumpsuits and carry these heavy weights on our backs every single day ,they’d also make us do hard labor having to finish it every night. They would even have us ride buses with these pandemonium people.
Winter break of my eighth grade year my parents decided to go on a cruise. We would go on the cruise and visit Progresso and Cozumel, Mexico. I was less than excited because I did not want to lose wifi. I know I was a vain just fourteen years old. The port was in New Orleans so we ventured the eight hour drive to the port. We arrived and the luggage checks took forever. The lines were so long and I had just been in a car. I was already mad and then we took a family picture and I looked a mess. I became angry that we had to take our I.D. picture too. I wanted to look my best. I know I was a vain just fourteen years old. We get to our cabin and turn on the T.V. and there was breaking news. We were on the ship the day Sandy Hook took place. I was in utter shock. I still
It was this summer when 12 other people and I were going to the Florida Keys. We all spent the night at a hotel, the next morning everyone wanted to go swimming at the pool. I wanted to go too, but little did I know I would have to do something I knew I shouldn’t have.
A few hours later they transfer me to another jail for more fingerprints and mugshots. I finally end up at 4th Ave they had everybody that had gotten arrested sitting either against a long white wall with a bench or in the tanks, which they’d put about 15 people in while they wait. I’m waiting in the tanks for more fingerprints along with about 13 other females. A lady in there was in the middle of dying her hair a bright red so it smelled strongly of ammonia, another lady was homeless and caught stealing shampoo from a CVS, while another was sitting huddled in the corner, shaking immensely coming down from her drugs; while I sat there, my mind silent. The whole night consisted of moving tank to tank, fingerprints, mugshots. Around 5 am everyone sat in a room waiting to be called before the judge. Still sitting in silence, I waited while the girl next to me kept falling asleep on my shoulder. I tried to discretely move away but was stuck between her and some black guy. Thankfully I was up
For example: with the increase of the number of products produced, the cost of operating a machine also increase. Second we have batch level costs which is associated with batches; producing a multiple units of the same product that are processed together is called a batch. The third type is product level costs which arise from any activity in order to support the production of products. The fourth and the last type is facility level costs, this costs cannot be determined with a particular unit, product or batch; this costs are fixed with respect to batches, products and number of units produced. A single measure of volume is used for allocating costs to each service or product in traditional method for example: direct material cost, machine hours, direct labor cost and direct labor hours. A cost driver is an activity that generate costs, it can be generated by two types of costs the first is a particular machine 's running costs where the costs is driven by production volume as machine hours; the second is quality inspection costs where the cost is driven by the number of times the relevant activity occurs as the number of
Eleven years old and I had my first ride with a cop and it was the worst car ride of my life. I couldn’t breathe and the palm of my hands started to sweat. I couldn’t stop glaring at the back of the cops head and hating him for what he just did. That was the first time I had ever wished death on another human being. I constantly kept looking over and checking on Alyssa and making sure that she was ok. She was shaking and crying she was so scared and I kept wishing that I was strong enough so that I could comfort her but I couldn’t. I couldn’t find the words to say to her so and it killed me. Eventually we ended up at a building I had never seen before and the cop got out and opened my door then asked us to get out and prompted
For instance, if a business wants to produce 5,000 more t-shirts, yet it will require the purchase of another machine, the marginal cost for the extra t-shirts includes the cost of the new machine. A marginal product describes the additional output that results from adding one more unit of input. It can be calculated by dividing the change in the total product by the change in the variable input. For example, in order to increase the t-shirt productivity by 1000 units, the company may hire two new employees to the production line. In which case, the total change in product is 1000 units. Although, hiring two more employees increases productivity, now the law of diminishing marginal product applies. Diminishing marginal product primarily indicates that increasing one input while retaining other inputs at the same level will initially increase output; however, further increase in the output level will eventually diminish. For example, hiring an extra two employees to increase productivity, will eventually have a limited effect or diminish the average income. Production function is a graph utilized to demonstrate the relationship between physical inputs and outputs, define marginal product, and distinguish allocative
