Generally, America 's future would be thought to have no effect on our economic situation, but there are in fact some effects. Since the market crash in 2008, the U.S economy has slowly recovered. Today, the United States of America is still the world 's largest overall economy, representing 22.4% of global GDP and 16.6% of global GDP (PPP). The United States ' GDP was estimated to be $17.555 trillion as of 2014. The United States also has a labor force of 156.397 million. The U.S has also now become a primary producer and distributor of oil, which provides our nation with jobs and billions of dollars, but will this new position of strength will be nowhere to reverse the 18 trillion dollar debt we are facing? Every single person involved with the government has a say in our nation’s future. That being said, so do our people. One thing that must improve is our voter turnout in elections. If people want their voices to be heard, voting is the best option available. Everything that happens in politics shapes our future. The ability of the Supreme Court to review and define the Constitution and its amendments is an integral part of our future. As is protecting our civil liberties, which both of these go hand in hand. The political factor also coincides with the cultural factor. Today, we see things get very heated between different Parties and candidates. If this problem is not solved, it could be very detrimental to the United States’ future. The United States is the leading economy across the globe and experienced several tribulations in the recent past following the 2008 global recession. Despite these recent challenges, there are expectations among policymakers and financial experts that the country will experience solid economic growth. This is both a question and concern society focuses much attention on today, is there cultural assimilation in the United States or does the country still remain segregated? Realistically, America has a long way to come before saying it fully integrates both races equally. Donnell Alexander, author of “Cool Like Me” approaches the topic of the prejudices whites have of blacks, arguing that there exists no cultural integration and the United States is still separated. With many lucid examples using expressive tones and personal examples, he compares the coolness of himself to the coolness of other blacks and other cultures in order to get the reader to identify “cool” and relate it as a black quality and observe it in American culture as a style and a way of thinking.
However the interest we pay on our nation 's debt is very small compared to the overall budget. According to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities only 7% of the total budget is spent on interest which is relatively low compared to things like social security which took up 24% of the budget in 2014 (Policy Basics). As long as the United States can continue to keep the interest rates low the debt will continue to be a begin threat. If the creditors of the U.S. were to spike their interest rates, America would be in trouble, however America has fairly good credit, and it should remain that way unless there is another scare like the government shutdown in 2011 (Riley). Overall the threat of the nation debt is a very minute problem in the grand scheme of things. According to The Richest, only five nations in the entire world are completely debt free, which is astounding when you consider that there are about 195 countries in the entire world (Mathers; How Many). In his book, The Future of Freedom, Fareed Zakaria writes that we must make democracy safe for the world. The American democracy sets the standard around the world for liberal democracies, but transitions across for other countries across the world toward a liberal democracy is often difficult and with poor decision making, close to impossible.
