Where would you be if immigration had been completely stopped in the United States due to the quota acts? Speaking for myself I would be in Jaworzno, a small town in Poland, and I would be living with my family in a small cramped apartment that my parents have owned. I would be speaking only Polish and I would be attending a college like school. It is hard to imagine a life outside of what we already have and if it were not for the open arms of the United States we would all be living lives that we could not imagine living. The fact is that many people that come to the United States as immigrants come here because they need to take refuge because where they were living before there was political injustice and other types of oppression to the people. How can we all first, second, third, fourth generations of immigrants deny these people the right to come to our multicultural nation to be safe and reside here until they one day will become legal citizens. I belive that the United States of America should always remain a multicultural nation so that anyone and everyone can come and be safe and live a better life than they previously could. Two main reasons for this are, first, it is hypocritical that a nation that was founded by immigrants would later on prevent new immigrants from coming into the nation they had created. Second, trying to persuade the country to become one nation with one culture and language is the exact opposite of what the United States of America has been since the Declaration of Independence was created. First off ,The United States of America was not started by the original inhabitants of 2 the land. The first settlers where immigrants that had left Great Britain because of the religious freedom they... ... middle of paper ... ...ens fight for. During wars they put their part in to help fight during the wars. Also the U.S would never have sprung up so quickly if it was not for the immigrants that had come in to do labor work like build the railroads across America, mine in the gold mines, or even do the hard work no one wants to do today. Immigrants are the backbone of the U.S, without immigration our economy would collapse and there would be chaos. Having a nation that is not the exact definition of a nation is will not bring it down but help it survive. All the cultures that are brought into the U.S make it a melting pot of people but without these people the U.S would not be on the map today as it currently is. The United State of America will remain a multicultural nation because there is strength and stability behind a nation that supports and welcomes people with open arms and safety.
