Introduction
America On-line (AOL), the largest commercial on-line service provider in the US, has been presented with a daunting task. Remaining a viable competitor in an increasingly crowded, fast- changing and competitive market. . Consumer services are entering a highly contested market that is expected to be even more competitive with the arrival of telephone and cable television giants in the months to come. For example, AT&T dealt a devastating blow for AOL as well as hundreds of other Internet providers by offering five hours per month free Internet usage to its approximately 90 million customers, 20 million of whom already have personal computers.
AOL, the largest commercial on-line service, offers their customers more than access to the Internet. AOL features include chat rooms, electronic magazines, software and entertainment services. Analysts believe that such content makes these services less vulnerable in the short run to AT&T's offerings. A value-added feature of AOL is its proprietary system that it provides users access to proprietary content. For AOL, that which makes them unique (proprietary system), also makes them most vulnerable.
AOL has aggressively marketed to the mass media of on-line users. Marketing efforts have focused on selling the idea of AOL as an easy-to-use, fun, interactive, "community" with a lot of content exclusively provided to its members. AOL distributes their software via direct mailings, inserts of diskettes as well as request forms for disks/CDs in magazines, downloadable web sites, OEM bundling agreements, media partnerships and retail sales. In 1995 AOL increased their level of direct marketing. As previously stated, AOL hopes to capture up to 97 million users, as well as expanding internationally.

Amazon.com operates in the Online Retail Industry. The sector is one of the fastest growing globally and is outperforming the ordinary retail marketplace. It was created after 1995 and it was only the Internet that made it possible for such an industry not only to be established but to become one of the most flourishing sectors in the business environment. What is interesting is that Amazon.com, together with eBay is the pioneer in the field. Both companies were launched in 1995 and are still extremely successful. The creation of e-mail in 1996 had a huge impact on the development of online retail by introducing a fast and easy way to communicate with customers. For this two-year period Internet usage doubled annually, thus, allowing for the expansion of the industry. Google is launched a year later, in 1998, only to become the most used search engine in the world and an essential partner for the online retailers by helping them tailor their websites to customer’s personal preferences and by advertising. After that, more and more people see the opportunity in the growing industry and enter it. By 2001 there are more than 513 million Internet users globally, which calls for action in terms of creating regulations and laws to protect the users and personal property. In 2003, Apple launches iTunes, and provides a platform for low-cost digital downloads. Another major change is the appearance of social media from 2004, which is one of the biggest influencer on the state of the industry. With the launch of iPhone in 2007, this trend strengthens as people get to enjoy the Internet anywhere they want to. From then on, technological advancements have made it extremely easy and fun to shop online, making it ...

Feminism constantly works to eliminate oppression, inequality and discrimination. A highly important tool used by feminists to assess differences among individuals in society which the author of “Feminisms Matters”, Victoria Bromley critiques is called intersectionality. Intersectionality enables one’s critical thinking about a person’s multiple identities and also goes into a deep investigation about how these identities are interconnected as to discover the roots of inequality. These multiple identities are interwoven throughout society’s power structures. The general misconception and approach of power is that it is zero-sum, which Bromley counter argues by supporting how power is instead about empowerment and can be shared with all (Bromley
Ethics in the healthcare industry have been around for several years and many people are probably familiar with the Hippocrates Oath that providers must adhere. In addition, to the Hippocrates Oath there are four major medical ethic principles, which consist of beneficence, nonmaleficence, autonomy, and justice (Bodenheimer & Grumbach, 2012). The purpose of this paper is to reflect on ethical issues in the healthcare setting.

In Feminism Matters, Victoria Bromley analyses the use of power and how it intertwines with intersectionality and the feminist culture. There are two different ways that power is visualized in our society. The first branch she discusses, is empowerment. Bromley defines empowerment as a power that permits people to live more accomplished lives. Empowerment is an important aspect of feminism as it promotes power to be shared and be used for good instead of evil. Bromley believes that empowerment is “collective, expansive, and beneficial…Empowerment increases the social, economic, political and spiritual strength of individuals and their communities” (Bromley 50). The other side of power that Bromley mentions is the power that focuses on the systems of inclusion and exclusion, hierarchies of privilege and the system of domination and subordination. This type of power is what defines the struggle of intersectionality and what feminists want to eliminate in our society. It defines the fact that women are all the same and share the exact same life experiences; which is untrue. Another big aspect of
Identity theft can happen more than once; because the information stolen at the first place can be used repeatedly.
Many victims do not realize their identity is being compromised until it is too late. By the time they realize what has happened, the amount of damage done can be extensive. Having your identity stolen can damage your credit score, and cost you time as well as money to restore your good name (“Identity Theft”). In extreme cases bankruptcy may be the only answer to get a clean slate in order to rebuild. Experiencing some kind of financial consequence may be a major clue that your identity has been stolen. These consequences can include mystery bills, credit collections, and denied loans (“Identity Theft”).
Law enforcements have stated that Identity Theft is the fastest growing crime in the U.S. It is also that fastest growing white collar crimes. It seems as if every day there is another security breach or someone’s account is hacked into and their account is going crazy because someone has your information and is using your money. Now a day in this generation it is so much easier to have your identity stolen. The reason why I say that because you have social media, email, smartphones that have all your information on there and its easier for people to get into. Rob Douglass, an identity theft expert and has been one for more than 15 years has been helping people avoid from having their identity stolen. The IBM has said that they were a billion records leaked that had contained personal information from people during the 2014 year. Things like this is what is so scary about identity theft which can cause a lot of problems under your household. The most important concern with all of this is that peoples personal and private information is not safe since the threat of people’s identity is constantly growing every day. In the state of Maryland, you can get up to 10 years for identity
Everyone just need to spread the world and make awareness for identity theft. Identity theft can be reported to the Federal Trade Commission online or over the phone. This can help more than simply one person from losing their identity to someone. This can be stopped by everyday people. Helping one person will help the next just as much. Identity theft can happen to almost anyone if they do not protect themselves properly. Identity theft has worsened in recent years, 16.7 million people were affected, making that a record high in 2017. The statistics showed that new technology needed to be implemented,
To begin with, whenever we hear the word “theft,” we typically envision someone inside a home ripping through drawers looking for valuables. Or stealing vehicles and cash from innocent bystanders. But we rarely associate the term with someone trying to steal personal information such as, bank statements, social security numbers, and credit card information. For this reason, the number of identity theft cases within the U.S. has increased since 2012 according to WalletHub. In the eyes of the law, these individuals are just as dangerous as someone trying to break into your home. The most compelling evidence, however, is that, these individuals are also harder to catch since they do most of their dirty work right from a computer.
The Internet has revolutionized the computer and communications world like nothing before. The Internet enables communication and transmission of data between computers at different locations. The Internet is a computer application that connects tens of thousands of interconnected computer networks that include 1.7 million host computers around the world. The basis of connecting all these computers together is by the use of ordinary telephone wires. Users are then directly joined to other computer users at there own will for a small connection fee per month. The connection conveniently includes unlimited access to over a million web sites twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. There are many reasons why the Internet is important these reasons include: The net adapts to damage and error, data travels at 2/3 the speed of light on copper and fiber, the internet provides the same functionality to everyone, the net is the fastest growing technology ever, the net promotes freedom of speech, the net is digital, and can correct errors. Connecting to the Internet cost the taxpayer little or nothing, since each node was independent, and had to handle its own financing and its own technical requirements.
