America Needs Limited Gun Control

Gun control has become a heavily debated topic within the courts and among activists who support gun control and those who do not. Numerous individuals will argue that there are not enough laws and restrictions for firearm owners across the country. While others will argue that the current laws and regulations violate every Americans right to the Second Amendment. Which states, “A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” The main reason the United States established gun control was to regulate the sale and ownership of firearms. The current laws regulate the sale and ownership of firearms, but do not carry out a more important reason to reduce gun related crimes. This should be our main concern to keep firearms out of the hands of unethical and illegal people with unlawful intentions. But each state has its own laws and regulations pertaining to gun control. Which leads to a combination of different federal laws attempting to keep each state equal and it does not work to satisfy everyone. Today, there are a handful of federal laws that regulate gun control. The first major act that was established occurred in 1934 the National Firearms Act. According to infoplease.com “This act targeted lawlessness and rise of gangster culture during the prohibition. President Franklin D. Roosevelt hoped this act would eliminate public ownership of automatic weapons, silencers, and other hidden forms of guns.” In 1938 the Federal Firearms Act was passed. Infoplease.com states, “The Federal Firearms Act would regulate anyone selling and shipping firearms through interstate or foreign commerce channels.” The Gun Control Act instituted in 1... ... middle of paper ... ... goal. Taking guns away is not the answer to the problem and neither is putting over restrictive laws and regulations into effect.
