Ambition
The Noise was deafening, Worksop had done it! They'd beaten Manchester
united in the semi final of the FA cup in penalties, now the final was
the next step, Worksop who were bottom of the premiership had beaten
European champions Manchester united, the players were delighted and
amazed about just how much they'd achieved, after the bus crash last
season killing most of the 1st team, all the players who had served
the club so well over the years, everyone knew they were up for
relegation, but somehow they had managed with the help of Karl
Fletcher the saviour, captain and super striker, to do well in the
cup, a cup which by winning would qualify them into Europe and help
they money problems, they now thought that they must have a chance of
staying up in the top flight
The league was close to the end, there were 5 games left to play, and
they needed to win 4 of them for definite safety, the other two teams
in relegation were playing some very hard teams, so the games were in
Worksop's favour, they had had a rough season, losing the first 7
games on the trot, but in the cup, the team seamed in different league
altogether, the potential was there, the ambition was there and morale
was there, of the whole club, all except one, Jamie parker, the
goalkeeper, he hadn't been right since his wife had left him, he had
entered a slippy slope, gambling and drinking.
But when he was at his best he was the best keeper in the word, which
is why he was ever present all season, although he made one or two
blunders he always seemed to make up for it in the next game, since
the arrival of the new manager Jez Watkins, 3 years ago, they h...

Sunderland player shot from 40 yards away, and scored!!! What had
happened, that was the best goal in the history of football, top
corner, that could never have been saved, but still fingers were
pointed, all at one player, Jamie Parker.
The fans couldn't believe it, neither could the players.

The club would never be the same, they had lost their spirit, they
didn't want to go on, who cares about the fa cup, they didn't,
everyone was disappointed and depressed, a man, who in the last weeks
was seen more often in the bookies than on the training ground, he
hadn't been giving 100% for the past few weeks and people were getting
suspicious, the fans and players reserved these suspicions, until one
day in the paper it came out
they were losing their games they had a tight defence and were ranked fifth in the NBA in
At that point, "none of the 2,000 spectators at the game could have guessed that they were present at a historic occasion, for that evening marked the first of what was to become the most famous, long-lasting – and bitter – sporting rivalry in the history of football" (Murray 4). Motivation is the reason or reasons one has for acting or behaving in a particular way according to Google. The three milers in The Perfect Mile attempt to achieve the four-minute mile, and they each have different forms of motivation. There are two milers that achieve success because their motive impelled them to prevail. What is motivation?
Support: I had joined a team where their were more practices and games during the session with more intest players in each team. As the session came to an end we had won an amount of games to compete in the playoffs.
Motivation is the main element towards success. Students, scientist, teachers and/ or any individual who wants to reach a goal needs to be motivated/ambitious. This motivation/ambition is what guides and keep people going. This ambition may be geared towards inventing/creating something, obtaining more money, and/or succeeding. The ambition people have are good, but sometimes lead to bad consequences. These consequences set the relationship between action and ambition. But, no matter what the goal is people with ambitions will not stop until their goal is met. Ambition towards obtaining something is what motivates people. For example Victor Frankenstein wanted to create a human being. As Mary Shelley writes in "Frankenstein", Victor Frankenstein wanted to be "the first to break through life and death ideal bonds"(231). His ambition was to create a human and to break these boundaries. But most importantly, he wanted to be recognized as the first individual to do this. This recognition would make him famous forever. The only thing he thought of was to break the boundaries of life and create a human creature.

The fact that everyone has goals and ambitions is what makes us all similar to each other, yet we differ by our motivations and willingness to sacrifice to attain those aspirations. This concept of ambition and motivation is depicted through the conflicts of the short stories “A Wall of Fire Rising” by Danticat, and “The Birth-Mark” by Hawthorne which stem from Guy and Aylmer’s impossible desires, respectively. Although Guy and Aylmer desire for unreachable ambitions at the cost of losing something important, both protagonists have different insecurities that drive them.
In the long history, the club has won most trophies for First Division (prior 1992) and England Premier League (EPL) with 20 trophies in total. For FA Cup, Manchester United shared record for most cups with Arsenal with 12 times. The team has also been crowned 3 times the European Cup / UEFA Champions League. (Manchester United Trophy Room) The most successful season was the 1998-1999 when they won “The Treble” (EPL, FA Cup, UEFA Champions League in one season) “thanks to the emergence of some special home grown talent, namely Gary Neville, David Beckham, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt joining Giggs in the mix.” (Smith par.2) In that unforgettable season, the team managed to score 128 goals in 63 games, averaged 2 goals per contest. “Manchester United also become the first English team to head the International Federation of Football History and Statistics ' top 100 teams thanks to their amazing 1998/99 season.” (“Manchester United 1999 the Treble”
We all have stuff we expect from ourselves and others. Some of our expectations are based on stereotypes. We learned stereotypes throughout life by the media and the people around us. The stereotypes we have impact the expectations we have on ourselves and on others.
Integrity is an idea that has been discussed by individuals with a verbal acuity far beyond anything I could ever hope for. With that in mind, I will not delve deeply or poetically into what integrity is or should mean. However, I will simplify the meaning of integrity; at the core, integrity boils down to doing what is right even if nobody is watching. See a piece of trash on the ground and nobody is around...pick it up. Driving down the road with no cops in sight...drive the speed limit. Arrive at a tollbooth and no attendant is working…pay the toll. An applicant is not readily available to sign a form for enlistment…track them down and ensure they sign it. I could write examples until infinity becomes paltry in comparison, yet I am sure I have made my point clearly; the greater good must be upheld regardless of who is there to ensure it is happening. It seems obvious that integrity should be a trait every individual is hardwired with from birth. However, integrity is a thankless trait; nobody is around after all. An individual cannot expect someone to clap, to smile, to thank them, to do anything actually. By definition, integrity should be something that is followed through with simply because an individual wishes to do what is correct, not because they expect accolades of any sort.
Webster's dictionary defines hedonism as "the ethical doctrine that pleasure, variously conceived of in terms of happiness of the individual or of society, is the principal good and the proper aim of action" or "the theory that a person always acts is such a way as to seek pleasure and avoid pain." With this definition in mind, and with further examination of John Stuart Mill's theory on hedonism, I am going to argue that hedonism is not an exclusive or distinct way of thinking. In fact, I think that with the exception of possibly a few people, most people are very hedonistically inclined. " Hedonistic utilitarians identify happiness with feeing pleasure and avoiding pain, meaning that the more an individual enjoys pleasure and avoids pain, the happier that individual is" (phil.tamu.edu).
What I fear the most is not being able to work out as hard as I use to do to have my talent because I believe that practicing made me a good soccer player and It was not a skill that I was born with. When I came to America i did not want to stop what I already started back home so I wanted to join my high school soccer team and keep practicing. Unfortunately, I went to school two weeks late and I missed the try out. I kept practicing with my brother for the first few month but after that I got bored I wanted a team that I can play with but I did not know any, and I didn’t look up for any soccer team because I was hopeless and thought that I lost all my skills and I have to start all over again. When I started reading The Willpower Instinct
According to Vocabulary.com, greed is an overwhelming urge to have more of something, usually more than one really needs. Greed is often connected with money, a desire to acquire as much of it as possible but it can refer toward anything, like food or material possessions. Greed is not merely " I want more". Greed is "I want more than everybody else".
What is the reason behind certain behavior of an individual? What initiates an individual to do something either that is good or bad? How do people succeed in reaching goal? These questions certainly deal with motivation as motivation provides base for a person’s action, desires and needs. Motivation encourages us to move towards certain goals that may be due to rewards, incentives, and or driving forces. It is a presumed internal or external force that energizes or encourages certain actions. For instance, a baby eats a whole glass of milk after the mother promises to provide a candy bar afterwards. Thus, motivation is an activating action that stimulates people to do something. In general motivation is the process of starting, directing and
