Alternative Medicine vs. Traditional / Conventional Medicine
Alternative medicine has it perks over conventional medicine and makes for a healthier being.
Many think Alternative medicine is not new to society. It actually started long before conventional medicine was founded. Before there was an FDA and is still used today all over the world it is still used by many people all over the world. Everyone has their own beliefs as to which are more dangerous Alternative or Conventional Medicine. I feel both have their own set of side effects and that both can be useful. However at times it would seem that Alternative medicine is the way to go because it does not include all
There are virtually no harmful side effects. Conventional medicine often cause adverse reactions in the patients that take them, and the worst part about it is that the companies that manufacture these drugs often put these side effects in the finest print. Alternative medicine utilizes the body’s natural healing process for treating conditions. The ingredients used are those which are regularly produced in the body. It is the most cost-effective costly. It is not uncommon for even generic pharmaceutical drugs to cost hundreds of dollars. You can also buy most herbal drugs over the counter without a prescription. Alternative medicine is widely understood to increase the body’s ability to fight off diseases. With an increased immunity system your body has an overall healthier state of being. Feeling healthier can make many things better including mood, appearance. It is said that people who use alternative and herbal medicine tend to look younger and live longer.
Alternative medicine became interesting to me after paying attention all of the side effects from conventional medicine commercials. I used the internet as my main research outlet. As a person who comes from a family that has several chronic illnesses that they never seemed to recover from taking conventional medication I wanted to do further research. I talked to people at work and friends just to see if their families were taking alternative medicines over conventional medicine. I felt it was important to show how alternative medicine is the better choice from price to not having side effects. To make sure I properly execute my point using exemplification I made sure to use several examples and supporting

The majority of the population gets sick or gets some medical condition and will head straight to the doctor for a prescription; prescriptions that will have a long list of side effects that sometimes seem worse than the original problem. They will buy pricey visits with specialists, when after visiting ten doctors the problem just keeps coming back, if it even ever went away at all. There has to be a simpler way. Something that doesn't come with a large price tag and doesn't have side effects; it fixes the illness and doesn't just mask the symptoms. Alternative medicine is becoming more and more popular because it attempts to find the underlying cause of the patient’s condition rather than focusing solely on symptomatic treatment. With many conditions there are simple, natural, and effective cures that could be considered next time as an alternative to traditional medicine or used with traditional medicine to reach optimal health.
nonetheless the choice medication may be utilized in experimental non-drug and drug techniques that don't seem to be nonetheless accepted within the medical circles. the long run of different medication holds on the potentiality of remodeling the "alternative medication" into standard medicine since it's currently turning into wide appreciated and practiced by medical doctors. In fact, {complementary medication|medicine|practice of medicine} is that the term used for medicine practiced together with standard medicine.
Nowadays, complementary alternative medicine is very popular in the United States. It is widely used by adults and children. National health statistic reports done in 2007 shows that 38.3% of adults and 11.8% of children use some form of alternative medicine (U. S. Department of Health and Human Services, 2016). But why is this happening? Why is it becoming so popular? Why are more people turning to it? Many times, this is because conventional medicine has not work and they want to try an alternative. That is the case of the author of this paper.
There are many different uses of alternative medicine and that can be used in a variety of situations. Some people may be skeptical of alternative medicine since they are not aware of the facts and statistics. By homeopathy becoming more popular people will not be as skeptical. “Despite the successes of many alternative therapies, the phrase "alternative medicine" has not acquired a completely respectable air. To many, especially doctors trained in conventional medicine, "alternative therapies" seem unscientific and dangerous” (Badertscher). As the author shows that although alternative medicine may seem skeptical to people, there are many reasons to prove that alternative medicine is an overall better solution. Badertscher also explains the many benefits to his view of alternative medicine of seeking to work with the body 's own natural healing processes” (Badertscher). For example, a person may suffer from chronic back pain may decide to go to a chiropractor instead of using medication such as oxycodone. In this Badertscher shows the benefit that using the body’s natural healing does and that it puts the person in control of their

This motivates me to study and practice alternative medicine which has a different approach to healing than conventional medicine. Alternative medicine uses treatments such as herbalism, massage therapy, acupuncture, and exercise, in order to give the body a chance to heal itself. Alternative Medicine uses natural forms of treatment in order to aid the body to become successful in healing itself. Forms of Alternative Medicine can relieve pain, stress, prevent and treat illnesses and have the potential to heal and cure sicknesses and disease. I know that people are suffering and losing their lives to varies forms of diseases and cancers and many of them result to receiving conventional medical treatments but, find that the medications seem to be harsh to their bodies and too expensive. My goal is to help those searching for an alternative that would have less side effects and be more affordable. I decided to go into this field of medicine because I want to provide medicine that would not only treat the symptoms of illness and disease but actually cure the problem and allow people to live a healthier
Complementary and alternative treatments are identified as a group of medical and healing systems different from the traditional ones. This type of approach centers on individualized treatment for the patient, treats the body as a whole, and promotes self healing and search for the spiritual nature of each individual. One of the crucial points that conventional and alternative medicine have in common is the awareness on good nutrition and the promotion of preventive care (White House Commission, 2014).
According to Sandra Augustyn Lawton in Complementary and Alternative Medicine for Teens, complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) can be defined as “a group of diverse medical and health care systems, practices, and products that are not presently considered to be part of conventional medicine” (Lawton, 2007, p.3). Although complementary and alternative medicines are often interpreted as the same thing, complementary methods are used in coordination with conventional methods and alternative methods are used in place of conventional methods of medicine (Lawton, 2007, p.3). Another method used is integrative medicine, which uses conventional medicine and CAM together because there is proven scientific evidence to support that the treatment plan is safe and effective (Lawton, 2007, p.3). Complementary and alternative medicines are used throughout the world in many different countries, some more specifically than others.
Modern medicine has eradicated diseases such as smallpox, polio, and malaria in many parts of the world, preventing many deaths. Yet, with many emerging alternative practices, the American society is slowly becoming more reliant on alternative medicines with little scientific evidence. However, one alternative practice, homeopathy, is slowly becoming accepted by many physicians. Now that homeopathy is sanctioned by the Federal Drug Administration (FDA), many physicians and scientists believe that this practice is as effective as allopathic medicine. Even with the acceptance by the FDA, there are still low amounts of prescription medicine based on homeopathy and many homeopathic remedies are not used in hospitals. This creates a question: If many physicians suggest the use of homeopathic medicines, does that actually mean it works; can they be equivalently compared to allopathic medicines? Although homeopathic medicines are considered as alternative medicines, approval by the Federal Drug Administration allows homeopathic medicine to be used in equivalence to over-the-counter allopathic medicine.
In the first place, when people use alternative medicine, they consume fewer drugs and chemicals in to their bodies and there are fewer side effects to the human beings. This means that, when people get caught in any kind of disease, if they use herbal therapies to heal their illnesses, they do not harm their organs and systems. They can drink a bowl of soup, a cup of tea or a bottle of water regularly if they want to get rid of the pathogens or aches such as sprain, head wrist and ankle. For instance, it is known that there is a man who used to use walking stick for a few y...
Herbal medicines are sold in different ways from tablets, teas, extracts, capsules, powders, and fresh or dried plants. Many consumers believe that these products are safe and free of harm due to the labeling of the product with words such as “all natural.” The downside of taking these “natural” medicines are some ingredients can cause harm to a consumer’s health. According to the U.S .National Library of Medicine, some herbs, such as comfrey and ephedra, can cause serious harm. It is also reported that herbal
Complementary is usually used along with prescribed treatments and Alternative only alone to help heal faster and stay much healthier. Does this really help and is it something reliable? How safe is it? Why use it? Based on the research it is, maybe not all but most. It helps and it is safer than prescribed Western Medicine, it helps effectively and reduces symptoms. A lot of herbal medicine is hard to find but it is sometimes more affordable than modern medicine. There is a lot of research done about it. “The similarities and the differences between herbal ingredients and western drugs were deeply explored” ( Peng 10). There is still more to be explored about CAM, a lot of the effects of CAM are not well known. Therefore doctors hesitate to use it and tell their patients about it. The science is making its progress and more research is
Modern medicine mixes chemicals and does extensive testing, while herbal remedies come from naturally grown herbs. For every argument there is two sides, herbal remedies lack dosage instructions, regulations, and may interact with current medication, as well as modern medicines also have improved treatments. With improvements made on information and studies of herbal remedies, they would prevail over modern
Modern medicine is finally starting to accommodate traditional medicine, though traditional medicine is still overlooked or regarded as a primitive form of treatment, providing nothing but placebo effects. According to the American National Cancer Institute, modern medicine is:
