Located, on an island in the middle of San Fransisco Bay, Alcatraz nicknamed “The Rock”, which held inmates since the Civil War. In 1934, the highpoint of crime re-fortified Alcatraz into the world’s most secure prison at the time. Escaping the prison consisted of either dying of hypothermia, being dragged by high currents, being caught by the guards, drowning or not making it to land. With Alcatraz’s heavy built security escaping the prison had its level of difficulty yet, it never stoped Frank Morris, John Anglin and Clarence Anglin. Out of the 36 inmates attempting to escape Alcatraz, Frank Morris, John and Clarence Anglin were the first and only people who were able to escape America’s highest security prison. Two inmates victoriously made it off Alcatraz island yet, quickly capture. Furthermore, seven inmates killed. Seven inmates drowned. Frank Morris arrived on Alcatraz Island in January 1960 as #AZ-1441. Morris has spent most of his life behind bars due to his mischievous behavior convincing his first crimes at just 13 years old. Being incarcerated from narcotics possession to robbery. Due to his high I.Q. level, Morris has had historically escaped and breaking out of prisons that eventually brought him to Alcatraz. Morris and the Anglins’ had spent three months digging their way out, through air vents in their cells with spoons. In addition. in order to trick the guards inmates sampled a replica of their face made out of paper, soap and human hair which tricked guards to believe they were sleeping. They climbed 30 feet up the prison plumbing system, crossed 100 feet of rooftop and made it down 50 feet of piping, landing in the prisons shower
