Education systems have many uses and many problems arise when applying the system to the world’s requirement for education. An author named Freire wrote the informative piece called “The Banking Concept of Education” which discusses the topic of how teacher’s style of teaching can modify the way the student approaches the form of problem. Although he was slightly annoyed that I took up a time to explain the idea he noticed that the students could understand the rest of the lecture with ease although the students who were already doing well were slightly annoyed that I spent 20 minutes explaining one idea. He was grateful that I showed him the side of teaching which is a more challenging style which is more rewarding in the long-run. The grades of the students went up by an average 20% which was the largest grade jump he saw ever in his class made by more than just one student. In contrast to the style of teaching which was usually taught to be the best method in the higher-education area, I found that when you taught with the intent to help them grasp and understand the concepts, the students excelled in more than just regurgitating the knowledge needed to pass the tests. Hubley more than just appreciated my assist during the semester, he attempted to apply my style of teaching into all his courses and incorporated a reward system that aided students who struggled to try to answer problems instead of giving
When he searched and worked for information, he learned more than when it was simply handed to him. A few methods I intend to use this semester to create opportunities for myself involve organization and relationships. Sanders mentions that when he didn’t do the reading, his grade suffered and he did not learn what he needed, so I intend to write down everything (projects, homework, reading assignments) in my planner so I don’t miss deadlines. As long as I keep up with every assignment and all of the reading, I will be able to learn the content even if the professor does not teach as effectively as I would like. Sanders also mentions that he was not pleased with the professor and he complained that the professor did not teach well, but he does not suggest that he interacted with the professor outside of class. I will try to interact with the professors out of class to form better bonds. By maintaining a good relationship with the professors, I may be able to get more help or I may be told about more programs that can help me by supplementing my education or by giving me opportunities to apply that education.
Paulo Freire questions the theory that education is just a basic process consisting of just teaching between a student and teacher in Pedagogy of Hope. The text elaborates on the multiple components of teaching. Freire makes a valid point that the teaching style is an imperative factor in whether the student is able to comprehend the material. He lists four types of teaching styles. The first, authoritarian, the teacher is dispassionate to any input from the student. The second, permissive, allows the student full control of their learning with little to no teacher input. The third, intellectualism, is where the teacher is enamored and overwhelmed by the content of the teaching. The most important of the styles to Freire is dialogic/dialectic, engaging both the student and teacher in the content taught. This style is imperative to the students of today’s society because of the need to be free thinkers able to analyze critically and dialogic/dialectic is the only style with the capabilities to influence the mind.
In the beginning, there were basic schoolhouses to fulfill the needs of a newly industrialized society. The subjects taught had the sole aim of the student being able to secure a job with the ultimate goal of creating a large enough workforce to fill the new societal needs, creating a stigmatization that any subject that does not help to secure a job is useless. Now that that goal has been met, the bases of classical higher education have been fighting their way into primary education while trying to destroy the previously mentioned stigmatization against non-career-oriented subject matter. Based on Freire’s essay, “The ‘Banking’ Concept of Education”, there are two types of education styles. We will use these educational styles to look at how they affected Rodriguez’s relationships. The first type is referred to as a “banking” education. In this type of education, information is “deposited” into students by their teachers.
In Chapter 2, “The ‘Banking Concept of Education,” from the book Pedagogy of the Oppressed (1989), Paulo Freire criticizes the education system, comparing it to a “banking concept.” The author also points out the system is broken and needs to be overhauled.

Through this essay I am going to try and show the advantages of “problem posing” style to education. In my opinion this style of education is very effective in expanding the minds of the receiver by making them more interactive in their learning rather than the typical lecture and take notes. In this style of education people teach each other and the teacher is not the only one enlightening the class with their knowledge. In Paulo Freire’s essay “The Banking Concept of Education” he talks about how in education there is no conversation between the teachers/professors and their students. In this essay there are a few points I do disagree with, such as that there are some class in which there cannot really be any conversation or discussion, for example mathematics cannot be disproven because there are theorems and concrete facts, so teachers and professors have to teach for memorization. Another reason I disagree with Freire’s way teaching is because in the banking concept Freire is against when teachers are just telling students things and they are regurgitating them, but some students learn better using memorization for learning in the class room and also when studying. The next point I disagree with in Freire’s essay is he doesn’t really look at it from the teachers stand point, because in the United States at least the teachers are now forced to only teach certain points in their subject because of all the standardize testing that they now have in place, specifically grade school. The last thing in Freire’s essay that I disagree with is how he seems to kind of put down teachers.
Pinar refers to the current situation in the field of education as a “nightmare” because education is no longer in the hands of educators. Our society today is becoming full of citizens and educators who are comfortable being the silent majority. Educators are sitting back in the shadows remaining silent while our government tells us how and what to teach in order to cultivate the minds of an economically productive future society. Teachers are no longer able to educate students about the value of becoming intellectuals because their time is spent training students to pass a test. In order to solve this problem, Pinar suggests that we learn more about our past and how we came to this juncture in our lives in order to deal with the problem that exists in education until this day.
In conclusion I feel that I have gained knowledge that can only be obtained through hands on experience in the classroom. With this experience I changed my assumption about classroom management techniques and have a totally new outlook which will only aid me as a teacher. In today’s society, schools in wealthy communities are better than those in poor communities, higher income schools are simply better at preparing their students for their future. In the reading “The Banking Concept Of Education As An Instrument Of Oppression” by Paulo Freire, he believes that teachers are depositing information into their students. He states that there are two educational systems, the “banking concept” is when teachers are filling their students up with information but the students aren’t fully understanding the material. Freire faulted the capitalist of education and set a revolution in education. In his book Freire said that a problem-prosing education is what was needed to revolutionize education. The book Pedagogy of the Oppressed introduced Freire's concepts and theories surrounding education during the 20th century. Many of concepts discussed as the foundation of education include: the "banking theory," "conscientization," "dialogical method," and "transformative education." In his book, Freire shows that the practices in education that were being used were dehumanizing and producing unproductive students to the world. He proposed the idea that education should be a "dialogical process" in which students and teachers are learning from their experiences.
Inclusively, the relationship between knowledge and education is dependent on the way of the process as a whole. If education is implemented as dull and uninteresting, true learning is not happening.
