For many years, Salalah, Oman, has attracted visitors from other Arabian Gulf countries during the months of July and August because of the Khareef season, the climactic anomaly that brings gentle monsoon rains to the otherwise arid southern
Arabian Peninsula. European tourists and more recently American tourists have begun to appreciate the beauty of this region during the winter months as it offers relaxation as well as cultural history to holidaymakers.
Al Baleed in Salalah is the ancient shipping port of Zufur and continues to be an attraction for archaeologists as well as tourists. This ‘user-friendly’ dig site, offers visitors many opportunities to view the site; on occasion, visitors might have the opportunity to observe excavations in process. Visitors are afforded the opportunities to experience life in old Dhofar by participating in:
tours of the two museums: The Museum of the Frankincense Land and the
Maritime Museum,
tours around the dig site on ‘golf carts’ that accommodate up to eight passengers, walks around the dig site.
There is also a gift shop with ...
Alexander Solzhenitsyn knows very well how to create an exciting and wonderful visual picture of the nature in the reader's mind. "One chills to the 17°-below-zero cold of Siberia" or "the peaks her highest stand" are only some sentences, describing the landscape. I really like to analyze the Russian winter, which is sometimes ironically very sunny and dry, but at the same time bitter cold. Especially, when the stars are shining the frost gets more and more into our skin.
A piece of art is analyzed by the viewer which is presented at the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston Texas. This particular piece is displayed in the Al-Sabah Collection, Kuwait. The item number is Inv. no. LNS 106 MS. The title provided by the museum informs the viewer that, this is a 17th century album page from Mughal dominions, India; which is made with Ink, colors, and gold on a paper. The painter used these materials and the overall theme of the art work to convey the message to the viewer that, the Mughals king is braver, powerful, and wealthy. In this painting a Mughal king or prince is hunting lions in the wild with his men. To show the importance of the scene, the painter put three rectangular borders around the artwork. Each border is of different size, color, and texture.

I have been to a place that has lots of interesting snow and others. It is Lake Tahoe. It is a place that I will never get bored of that it has a lot of snow! Mostly you could do anything with snow. But most of all, beating your older brother up in a snowball fight. I really loved when each time I went down the big mountain. It was really amazing. I was also really happy of building snowmen and building snow forts that I never even knew I can build. It was amazing for all of what could be crafted with snow. The fantastic trip has come to the start!
The excavation and discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb was as a result of the efforts of the Archaeologist Howard Carter and his team. Carter’s discovery of the tomb came by finding steps to the burial near the entrance to the tomb Ramses VI. The subsequent excavated of the site by Carter and his team revealed the greatest ever treasure found from an Egyptian tomb and showed the existence of Tutankhamun. Carter’s methodology for the excavation was that of maintaining records for each artefact and that every artefact that was brought out of the tomb was preserved appropriately. The discovery and excavation of the tomb was a long and complex process but with it revealed much about Tutankhamun.
Throughout the ages civilization was always eager to learn more about space. They had a lot of questions. For instance if the earth was round or flat or if earth is the center of the universe. Astronomy is needed for many things, but to learn more about space you needed observatories. Observatories in the Islamic Golden Age were not how they are today - they were research institutions.
Winter can be long and exhausting. The weather is usually cold and gray. Children are aching to get outside and play in the warm sun and without their restricting coats. E. E. Cumming’s intro showed the excitement he faced as a child. He looked forward to Springtime and all the joys that came with that season. Flowers are in bloom, kids are playing, kids are laughing, and you hear the balloon man whistling in the background.
Coins are an important way for Islamic empires to express what is important to them. Over the decades of Islamic expansion coins were used with designs. These were coins remained in use from the Byzantine and Sasanian empires. Coins began to evolve as Muslims started to depict their own designs from the Byzantine and Sasanians. During the Umayyad dynasty things started to change with the appearance of coins. New designs were implemented during this time that were not the norm. An Umayyad caliph by the name of ‘Abd al-Malik was the one to start this alternation of the design for these coins. This was something that was important for him to strike and to maintain as the coin usage. The importance was because of religion, government, and change
When people think of the history or the timeline of human existence, they reference back to the theory of “mainstream science,” which indicates that the human civilization began approximately 6,000 years ago. Which brings into question, what about the time before that? Were there other homo sapiens like us living on Earth? Archeologists, geologists, and historians who attempt to comprehend human antiquity have conducted research on their ideology of human origin. Professionals refer to this as Forbidden Archeology. Forbidden Archeology is the belief that the origin of human civilization is far more ancient than what “mainstream science” claims. Based on the evidence, such as “out-of-place artifacts” (OOPARTS), Ancient Nuclear War, and mysteries
I spent most of my life surrounded by fragrant pine trees, rocky mountains, and sometimes extremely cold winters. At least one year ago, my family and I moved to a place that is the exact opposite of Colorado which was Phoenix, Arizona. Months before moving, we got rid of all clothing that resembled winter apparel because we all knew it was not going to be needed again. When moving to a new location, it the time to embrace new change, different cultures and certainly different weather climates.
The artifact in question allows for a great deal to be learned about the ancient Egyptians and their way of life. First of all, this artifact is significant to the culture of ancient Egypt because it connects to the social hierarchy and class system in place at that time. For example, Egypt was a patriarchy, although in many ways women had it better than in other civilizations of the same time period: women could own their own property, be a part of the legal system (serve on juries, take someone to court, etc.), and there were even some ruling Queens in the history of Egypt: “There are a number of cases where a queen mother ruled for her son who was still a child. Several queens also ruled in their own right, often at the end of a dynasty”
Perhaps the vast array of seasons and weather patterns hold the town to a unique appeal. In the fall, the crisp and cool breeze wafts through the fallen leaves, blanketing the lawns and streets in a warm, orange hue. In the winter, icy gusts chill the terrain, followed by the gentle fall of snowflakes. With time, the town is coated in
Arab is not a race, but is a group of individuals that are united by their culture and history (ADC, 2014). There are many different variations commonly based on a particular individual’s country of origin such as Arab Americans. Other variations are based on their social class, the level of their education, if they live urbanely or rurally, or the time they have spent in the United States (Lipson & Dubble, 2007). Most Arabs also practice Islamic religion and are Muslim. When working with an Arab or Muslim client, nurses should ask what the client wishes to be referred to so as not to offend them in any way (Lipson & Dubble, 2007).
The biggest difference between summer and winter is the climate. One of the main attractions of summer is the warm weather. I like being outside on a bright sunny day, and letting the sun warm my body. I also like that we get an occasional thunder storm. The excitement fills the air when I see the thunder clouds rolling in. The sound of thunder, and the lighting shows that come from the storms are fascinating. On the other hand winter i...
How wrong I was to feel so daunted at the thought of my first winter holiday being on top of an artic slushy snow laden mountain freezing to death for a whole week didn’t exactly fill me with excitement and wonder. Before me is the most incredible view I’ve ever seen, I always believed that good old Blighty was the prettiest place on earth with its countryside of rolling hills and lush green landscape.
