We humans classify everything that we have come to know in this world, from elements to all God’s creatures. Man likes to know he has control and the classification and selective processes man takes are all for control. Even mans’ best friend has been narrowed down into groups which man created. In each group are dogs that have been breed for a specific use to help man do a job faster, easier, and more efficiently. “Every breed is assigned to one of seven groups, based on the uses for which the breeds were originally developed” (AKC.org). Mans’ best friend has been categorized into the: Hound, Working, Terrier, Toy, Non-Sporting, Herding, and Sporting Groups.
The Hound Group contains such popular dogs as the Basset Hound, Bloodhound, and Greyhound. There are 22 separate breeds in the Hound Group alone. This group can be further separated into the scent hounds and the sight hounds. Scent hounds have been bred to find their prey by their overdeveloped sense of smell. Sight hounds were bred to spot targets at great distances and let their handlers know where the prey is located.
The Working Groups is a group of 21 different breeds of dogs. These dogs “were bred to perform such jobs as guarding property, pulling sleds, and performing water rescues” (AKC.org). Some common breeds in this group are the Great Dane, Doberman Pinscher, and Boxer. These dogs were bred for specific tasks but all needed to be intelligent, quick at learning, and good companions. Most of the...
Are these dogs misunderstood? In reality a dog is a reflection of its human, they see you as a pack leader they are who you raise them to be no matter the breed. If you neglect your puppy by chaining them up outside their whole life or keep them in
I’ve always felt that animals are the purest spirits in the world. They don’t fake or hide their feelings, and they are the most loyal creatures on Earth and somehow we humans think we’re smarter. I chose this topic about the canine because, some of these canines risk their life’s to protect dog’s best friend.
Before Hatshepsut, there were other woman who attempted to rule over Egypt. Every time a woman came to power, there was some sort of problem that was left for them to solve. Unlike Hatshepsut, the other woman did not have any confidence to name themselves pharaoh and they did not grow up in the royal family like Hatshepsut did. In paragraph 13, it states, “A few women had tried to rule Egypt before, but never would search valid claim to the throne,” and, “These women had not ruled long or well and neither had had the audacity to proclaim herself pharaoh.” These quotes explain that Hatshepsut was recognized for taking power at a good time and not stepping

b. “Many people have a difficult time properly identifying a true Pit Bull, so added to the statistics are those dogs that have been misidentified. Considering these factors, the actual number of attacks attributable to American Pit Bull Terriers is considerably lower than represented,” according to the real pit bull. i. Do you think a 4 pound Pomeranian dog would hurt anybody? ii. Stated in the Dog Bite Law, “The most horrifying example of the lack of breed predictability is the October 2000 death of a 6-week-old baby, which was killed by her family 's Pomeranian dog.” a. The American Temperament Test is a test that measures a dog strong avoidance, unprovoked aggression, and panic without recovery. “American Pit Bull Terriers passed the test at a rate of 85.3%,” according to Pitbulls.org. They have the highest test scores, and they out beat the golden retriever “family dog” by 7.7%. iii. I identify the justice of my rival’s claim, but I disagree with my rival’s 100 percent about pit bulls having the highest attacks. c. Now you can see how my rival made a mistake because they didn’t evaluate and understood the facts as clearly as they
The first of this category would be the aggressive dog. This dog is the one that tends to be forceful and damaging. The aggressive dog will tear things apart when searching for drugs. This dog takes his or her job serious. You can compare these animals to human beings when it comes to work. Some human beings take their work serious as well. Most of the time an aggressive dog will make your job harder. You may have to do more to clean up an area after your search, because of the damage to the area. Aggressive drug dogs are not all the same. Their personalities come into play as well. I’ve been around these types of dogs when they have ripped a kitchen cabinet apart to get the drug they are looking for. A good example of an aggressive dog would be one that runs to fetch a thrown ball, and after retrieving the ball, begins to tear it to pieces. These types of dogs are known for performing their job the best.
Even though millions of individuals in the United States suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), this illness in veterans that served in Vietnam War, Iraq and Afghanistan does not receive a lot of recognition for their service and the traumatic event they experience. This is unfortunate when provided with the information researched that the effects of PTSD for veterans in Iraq and health issues are more than any other military population. Younger military population is viewed by many as ‘puzzling’ and they do not fit with the list of so called ‘minority groups’ (Savitsky et al., 2009). This article spoke about millions of veterans with PTSD following the 9/11, who is depressed and victims of traumatic events are not getting the help they really need. A process of prevention is to educate doctors, nurses, and other people in the medical profession and society in general that PTSD in veterans from Iraq and other war zones is able to be avoided. Another option of intervention or prevention is to get involved with some outpatient mental-health services. These services will help veterans and their families with strategies in teaching practical approaches to cope with PTSD. It will also contribute support on a national, state, and local level in a more consistent manner. This will help men, women, children, and veterans with PTSD, techniques in real-life situations (Savitsky et al., 2009).
Three kinds of dogs that are related are Boxers, Boston terriers, and Bulldogs. The Boxer is a happy, high-spirited, playful, and energetic dog. Also, Intelligent, eager and quick to learn. It is on the move continuously and bonds very closely with the family. Loyal and affectionate, Boxers are known for getting along really well with children. The Boston Terrier is gentle, alert, very smart, well-mannered and enthusiastic. But without the proper amount of mental and physical exercise they can be crazy at times. They are very sensitive to the tone of your voice. Boston's like to learn and therefore are not difficult to train. Although the English Bulldog’s appearance can be somewhat scary, it is a very gentle dog. Just the same it will scare off any intruder. It is a very affectionate and dependable animal, gentle with children, but known for its excellent guarding. Bullheaded and determined, this breed can be very persistent. I have both Boston terriers and Boxers because they are just adorable, very affectionate, and impossible not to love.

There are many breeds of dogs to choose from some of the most common are golden retriever, German shepherd, and Labrador retriever. Many people can pick almost any breed they are looking for though. The common breeds I pointed out are used because of their intelligence, willingness to work, and their mobility. The dogs that help are really filling a hole that these people have.
Mental health conditions, traumatic brain injury, and suicide risk are significantly higher in recent wartime veterans, especially when compared to veterans of the Vietnam and Gulf War periods. The “healthy soldier effect” used to mean that veterans had lower overall mortality rates compared to the general population. However, suicide risk is not included in this effect any longer. Veterans of Operations Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom, and New Dawn
... was in command. There were new technology advancements and cultural differences that began. The biggest advancement in technology was in steam power. The telegraph, a new communication medium, was invented. This new technology made communication much easier across the ocean. The industrial revolution meant change. Workers were more productive and more items were being produced, therefore, the prices dropped. This made items available to the poor and not only the rich. However, the industrial revolution had its negative effects. The working conditions were dangerous and harmful. Women and children worked long hours and worked in difficult areas. The population in cities increased since people where moving to the city to work. With the new inventions, people and society begin to grow and change. The industrial revolution changed our society for better and for worse.
From the Egyptians unleashing them on enemy forces to the Native Americans using them as watchdogs and draft animals, canines have served a purpose for centuries. Roman historians Plutarch and Pliny, as well as Greek historian Strabo, wrote of dogs “being protected with coats of mail” (Losowsky 2013). Greeks depicted canines in murals celebrating the Battle of Marathon, however these are not the only historical accounts of military dog service. They have been seen with Attila the Hun, William the Conqueror, the Spanish conquistadors, Frederick the Great, and succeeding generations of English rulers and leaders. Napoleon describes war dogs and their loyalty in his memoirs, “I walked over the battlefield and among the slain, a poodle killed bestowing a last lick upon his dead friend’s face. Never had anything on any battlefield caused me a like emotion” (Losowsky 2013). Germany used nearly 30,000 canine medics that were sent out into no-man’s-land, during World War I. While Napoleon troops were surrounded by poodles, evident in his account of a battle, there have been multiple breeds that serviced military personnel throughout time. Originally, the Dogs for Defense (DFD) organization had 32 potential breeds and crosses, but the list was narrowed down to seven breeds by the end of 1944. The seven chosen breeds were the German shepherd, Doberman pinscher, Belgian Sheepdog, Collie, Siberian husky, Malamute and Eskimo dog. Smaller dogs also have a role in service: the United States Air Force uses Cairn Terriers and the United States Navy has enlisted Beagles. While the Army routinely uses larger breeds such as German Shepherds and the Belgian Sheepdog, or a cross of one of these breeds. Military dogs have held many duties throughout his...
The Industrial Revolution was a time of immense changes that occurred in the manufacturing process, transportation means, and economy of the agriculture, textile, and metal industries in England, turning it into “the workshop of the world”
Today they are considered a part of the police force, and in many departments they even have their own badges. From the hundreds of dog breeds, there are some that are widely known for their presence in law enforcement. The most widely trained dog for regular patrol work is the German Shepherd. Other excellent breeds include, but are not limited to, the Labrador Retriever, Belgian Malinois, and the Dutch Shepherd (Beaken, 2013). In today’s age, most local police agencies are transitioning from German Shepherds to Belgian Malinois because of their ability to work on the same level, better built, lighter weight and longer life span than the German Shepherd. Certain breeds have been used for special purposes, such as detecting illegal drugs or explosives, and tracking fugitives or missing persons (Burns, 2014). For law enforcement, police departments believe a well-trained canine team is essential to deterring criminal activity and for assisting in locating illegal drugs and explosives, in tracking fugitives, and with finding missing persons.Once the dog has found the item, it gives one of two kinds of
