Air Traffic Control Continued growth of air travel and recent advances in new technologies for navigation, and communication have led to the proposals by FAA. Air Traffic Controllers direct planes on both the ground and in the air to prevent collisions. The main goal of ATC is the management of Air Traffic movements and ensure to keep safe distance from one another. Several of the ATC’s are engaged at the Federal Aviation Administration. The FAA is located in Herndon, Virginia. Federal Aviation Administration is the main controller of the air traffic system. Now FAA is known as National Airspace System. There …show more content…

The spring and summer months of the year are the worst for bad weather delays. Those are the months of hot humid air, which can produce thunderstorms, severe lightning and turbulence. Air traffic control may stop traffic for hours due to bad weather. There are always problems in taking- off and landing signals due to other planes traveling on the runway. Each landing aircraft must touch down, slow, and exit the runway before the next crosses the approach end of runway. The problems occur when there are more than two planes on the runway and waiting for the signal to take- off. In landing if there are more than two planes are ready for landing, the third plane will stay in the air and wait for the signal from control tower to land the plane. The technology problem plays an important role in air control problems. If the radar system is closed, there will be highly problem for aircraft to control. If there is short circuit problem, the technology plays a lead …show more content…

Every terminal controller usually handles traffic in 30-50 mile range from the airport. Terminal controllers are responsible for providing all ATC services within their airspace. Not all airports have a radar approach control available. In this case, the en-route center may coordinate directly with the tower. The Air Traffic Service relies on a good teamwork to achieve its goal. Breakdowns in teamwork can and do occur, and the consequence can be serious. Supporting staffs such as planners, managers and supervisors are also important to optimize their work. Breakdown in teamwork may be communications between controllers and pilots, decision making and conversation with other controllers. National Airspace System is one of the complex aviation systems in the world. There are approximately 15000 air traffic controllers. On average about 60000 flights use National Airspace System services each
