Effects of Air Pollution
Since long ago, pollution has been a great point of concern for humanity. Pollution refers to substances that contaminate the nature and our surrounding environment. In recent centuries, particularly after industrial revolution, the rate of contaminant production has been drastically increased, especially in industrialized countries. Mostly, these pollutants are carelessly released into the environment and no precautions have been made. Diffusion of such hazardous substances will certainly endanger life on earth. Air pollution is a major type of environmental contamination, which has extreme adverse effects on all flora and fauna. Today, Air pollution is the most common and serious environmental problem. Approximately

According to Tinker and Levitt (2016), air pollution causes many health related problems like foetal brain growth damage, asthma, suppressed lung growth, onset of diabetes and heart diseases. Air pollution is also a major cause of premature death. More than three million people lose their lives as a result of air pollution; a figure which exceeds deaths caused by both malaria and HIV/Aids (Tinker and Levitt, 2016). According to a study published in New England Journal of Medicine, even safe levels of air pollution can be deadly and increases risks of premature death (Bakalar, 2017). As an article published by Bakalar (2017), Dr. Ziyad Al-Aly has said that "diabetes and hypertension are still the major drivers of kidney disease [. . .] and air pollution is a previously unrecognized factor for kidney disease and kidney disease …show more content…
Although all kinds of pollutions negatively affects humans' lives, air pollution has a very high level of negative effects on them. Three important effects of air pollution are: global warming, health problems and adulteration of water sources and soil. Health problem is the most important effect of air pollution because this effect has taken many people's lives and still it kills thousands of humans' lives per day. Totally, these effects can threaten humans' lives on the earth and make our conditions worse than before. So it is highly recommended to stop the progression of this serious problem, by keeping your environment clean, decreasing use of machineries and transportation vehicles that produce hazardous gases and finally reducing burning leaves, plastics, trash and other materials similar to
Pollution and its effects can definitely be categorized as negative externalities. Although millions are inevitably responsible, nobody in their right mind enjoys being subjected to these conditions. Long-term affects of air pollution include chronic respiratory disease, lung cancer, heart disease, and even damage to the brain, nerves, liver, or kidneys. Continual exposure to air pollution affects the lungs of growing children and may aggravate or complicate medical conditions in the elderly.
There are many kinds of air pollution. The ones I want to talk about are the ozone, acid rain, carbon monoxide and toxic air contaminants. Ozone is formed when hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxide react in sunlight. Therefore, ozone is at its peak during hot summer days. Exposure to high levels of ozone can have serious consequences on your health. It can cause respiratory disease, loss of pulmonary elasticity, and premature aging of our lungs. Next, is acid rain, which occurs in the atmosphere in the form of sulfur and nitrogen oxide. These pollutants can have serious damaging affects on aquatic, forest and wildlife ecosystems, as well as deterioration of buildings. Carbon monoxide is another form of pollution. It reduces the blood?s ability to carry oxygen. If a human is exposed to higher levels, it can cause chest pains, angina attacks or even death.
Air pollution is a contamination of the air we breathe. Every day, hundreds of millions of factories continue to burn fossil fuels, natural gases, and coal. In turn, these toxic pollutants cause this epidemic to only increase as the years go on. Emissions from factories are a major culprit of air pollution in this day and age. Burning of fossil fuels, including oil, coal, and natural gases are to blame. (1) Not to mention that burning fossil fuels are the leading cause smog, acid rain, and global warming. Though, we need them to power our homes and vehicles, there are very detrimental repercussions due to these necessities.
Pollution is affecting many individuals and life, as we know it. We need to do something about how it’s affecting our world. That’s why I urge the issue that more people should realize that pollution is an issue that needs to be prevented because of its negative consequences. Which are health affects, the total destruction of environments, and the death of animals and plants. More awareness must be brought up amongst the people and they must realize the long-term benefits it has for the world.
Air pollution refers to the concentration of harmful chemicals that have been added to the atmosphere. Such as emission in the environment, usually from heavy traffic, power generated industry and coal smoke. Large amounts of these chemicals may be harmful and can impact public health (Lu et al., 2015).
Outdoor air pollution is definite as the statement of several materials called air pollutants into the atmosphere, in attentions that threaten the happiness of living organisms or disturb the function of the environment as a system important to human health damages in numerous ways. Air pol...
Air pollution is caused by many things such as car fumes, burning of fossil fuels,
The population of our planet is increasing continuously. Unfortunately, the population growth has many unfavorable consequences, one of which is the pollution problem. Pollution is a process of spoiling the environment in a way that it becomes dangerous to use. Although pollution had been known to exist for a very long time (basically since people started using fire thousands of years ago), it took global proportions only since the beginning of the industrial revolution during the 19th century. With time, pollution has become one of the leading threats to our planet. Air, water, soil and sound pollution are the most prominent and dangerous types of pollution and they are known to have various destructive effects
Air pollution according to the Wikipedia << is the introduction of particulates, biological materials, or other harmful materials into the Earth’s atmosphere, possibly causing disease, death to humans, damage to other living organisms such as food crops, or the natural or built environment>>. Therefore, human being should be aware of the facts that the environment and all living creatures are dying. They need to understand the importance of natural items, the nature, etc…
Pollution comes in many forms, and is one of the biggest global killers. It affects 100 million people which is more than diseases like malaria and HIV (Dosomething.org). Every year pollution claims more than 100 million land and sea animals (CEF). Not only does pollution affect humans, it is also very harmful to animals.
Every person in this world want to breathe clean air because this basic requirements of human health, but now a day's humans breathe polluted air. While every day human polluted the environment and the air with his activity. These harmful actives which causes by human are called pollution. The problem of air pollution has become a real problem for many reasons. Most smoke of air pollution comes from transportation and factories, which mean people is causes air pollution by human activities. In this essay I will examine Air Pollution in our world. Also, I will focus in three areas: the causes of air pollution, the effect of air pollution and the solution of air pollution. In addition, Scientists saw with increasing CO2 in the atmosphere through
The increase in the development of the technology and the human race, people failed to take care about the surrounding in which they live in. Thus, most people polluted the environment and thereby reducing the quality of the place which can be harmful to them. Even though, there are several aspects of pollution such as soil, air and water pollution can be detect visually and by tasted. For air pollution that cause by certain gas, it cannot be detect as it odorless, tasteless and colorless. Some of gases are useful in our daily life. It makes our daily life become easier and save time.
Air pollution is a type of pollution that can severely damage our environment as well as the earth’s atmosphere. Air pollution occurs all the time when the air contains many substances ...
Air pollution is the cause of acid rain, smog, global warming and the hole in the ozone layer. Acid rain damages forests, rivers and soils making the environment unsuitable for fish and other wildlife leading to animal diseases. It also influences negatively to farmers on vegetation. In addition, acid rain also speeds the decay of buildings and sculptures costing billions of dollars damage to materials. Moreover, ozone depletion caused by air pollution harms human health from UV radiation which can contribute to skin cancer, cataracts, and damaged immune systems. UV can also affect adversely on crops. Another environmental effect is eutrophication in which concentrations of nutrients in the water foster blooms of algae that impair fish, plant and animal
Every other day a new industries are being set up, new vehicles on roads and trees are being cut to make way for new homes. All of them, indirect way lead to increase in CO2 leads to melting of polar ice caps which increase the sea level and pose danger for the people living near coastal areas. Pollution can have an impact in our health not only affects people with impaired respiratory system such as asthmatics, but very healthy adults and children too. Exposure to pollution for 6 to 7 hours, even at relatively low concentrations, reduces lung function and induces respiratory inflammation and, healthy people during periods of moderate
