Abstract
African-Americans are the most stereotyped people in the world. These stereotypes are based on cognitive structures that may contain the beliefs, knowledge and expectation of the perceiver about the African-America. The stereotypes and prejudices are constructed out of a kernel of trust and then it is distorted beyond reality. The stereotypes against African-American were built through generalization of a truth that contained negative characteristics of the black people. Thus, stereotypes led to prejudices that entailed preconceived opinion that is not based on experience or reason.

However, some stereotypes are positive. For examples, it believed that all black people can sing. It has led to African-American starting musical genres like hip-hop and Rnb (Rome, 2004). The music industry is full of black Americans. The negative stereotypes are black people blames every discriminated against them due to race. TV shows also depict them as lazy and stupid (Rome, 2004).
Effects of stereotypes on people with African-American background
The effects of stereotype behaviors and beliefs against black people have both good and bad influence. However, the adverse impact has outweighed the positive results. For example, the stereotype belief that all black people are thieves or associated with all the social evils in the society has led to police brutality (Couillard, 2013). The police officers discriminate and falsely accuse black forks of a crime they might not have committed. It has led to African-American becoming bitter and resenting the police department officials.

They fact that someone has a preconceived opinion about me make me that is not based on experience or reason makes me bitter and resentful (Couillard, 2013). Prejudice prevented me from explaining myself and my traits since I was outraged. I became ignorant about that person and blocked out everything that he was saying.
Effects of Prejudice and Stereotype on Quality of Customer Service
Prejudice and stereotype have adverse effects on the quality of customer services. Prejudices and stereotypes frequently lead to ignorance, bitter and resentment. For examples, when a white sales representative wants to sell a good, the sales representative will approach the African-American with ignorance and discriminatory voice that would anger the customer (Couillard, 2013). Prejudice led to poor customer services and lost the client because of baseless perceived truths.
