One of the most frustrating problems for teachers could be a beneficial tool for learning: cellphones. Right now students are allowed to bring their phones to school but they have to be turned off and put away during school hours. The debate in schools is whether to give students the freedom to use their phones in class or not at all. Phones can be a distraction in the classroom but students should be allowed to use them in class because they are a useful study tool, they help with classwork, and are a great way to organize.
One reason cell phones should be able to be used in class is they are a great study tool. Phone can allow you to take pictures of the board. If a teacher writes notes on the board or does a lesson you can take a picture of it to make sure you understand later for any work they give. It

On all phones, there is some type of calendar app where is shows dates and they can set reminders on the app. When an assignment is assigned it has a due date so with students they can mark reminds in the app to tell them when it’s due or if they have an event coming up in the following week. Being organized as a student of any grade is very important to keep your grades looking good. It shows that 32% of college students use their mobile device to set reminders for classes, assignments, and due dates for all classes.Clearly there are written calendars to help students or daily reminders in class from teachers about assignments rather than pulling out phones in class. Some students would lose calendars or planners easily and if the whole class was told to put in assignments on their phones in class everybody would know when it’s due. Instead of having the confusion of losing or forgetting a due date. The reason behind students turning in and getting their work done on time is a cell phone. Middle school to college students use phones for the day to day work to keep the school work kept up and fully
“There are almost 180 million cell phone users and it is rapidly expanding” (Betancourt). Nearly every student in the United States owns a cell phone. Cell phones have been around for forty years. The first cell phone was placed by Martin Cooper in 1973. Cell phones become increasingly popular as the twenty-first century technology becomes more advance. People in younger generation rely on cell phone to accomplish basic needs. Some even becomes addictive to the cell phone. For example, I have a cousin who considers cell phone as an important part of her daily life. If I ask her to put away her cell phone, she would complain “I can’t live without my cell phone.” Cell phone should be prevented from using excessively because if cell phone is used in an improper way, it would ultimately becomes a distraction device for students. Therefore, students would be lack in interpersonal relationship, distracted during class, which can lead to academic failure, and distracted while driving, which can lead to serious accident and death. The negative impacts of cell phone on students are significant matters that need to be addressed.
Although many teachers might discourage the action of pulling out a cell phone during class time, Preston encourages it. (Camillia Lanham). Technology has become a form of taboo in today’s classrooms. Cell phones are forbidden and journeying anywhere outside of Microsoft on your laptop while in class is considered disrespectful. There are so many educators that choose to look down on a tool that is only becoming more relevant to today’s generation.
As you know students aren't aloud to use phones in school because they are too much of a distraction and kids will always be on their phones instead of listening to the teacher and actually learning at school.
According to Jack Tessier, in his article “Student Impressions of Academic Cell Phone Use in the Classroom”, said that, “Students felt that cell phone use helped their learning, was not a distraction, helped them enjoy the class, improved their attendance a little, and promoted their success” (Figure 1b). This means with the cell phone, people can see the difference in education between the past and the present day. For example, if ten years ago students had to bring books when they went to school, they are now able to read books directly on their phones because many famous technology companies such as Apple and Samsung have designed electronic books, better known as e-books. This is a great invention, since many books are able to be converted into an e-books. It is more convenient because I can read books easily through the cell
In school many kids have use of cell phones but teachers don't allow them because they're to distracting I think teachers focus too much on the negatives and pay no attention to the positives. Most schools allow students to have cell phones for safety a reaction to the Littleton, Colorado, high school shooting incident of 1999. Apart from emergency situations, most schools don't officially allow students to use cell phones during class time. However, when the teacher is busy helping out another student or writing on the board, out come the phones as students send instant messages to friends, listen to music, or watch videos on the Internet. Although cell phones may cause disruptions and increase cheating they should be aloud in school because they can be used as reminders, to look up words they don't know, and it provides an increased sense of safety.
As Olga Kharif from nbcnews.com has made clear that “ Many schools have banned cell phones in school, but educators have begun changing their rule of using cell phones in school and are using them for research and other useful things. Olga Kharif point is that some classrooms have found a way for cell phones to be useful in some class for research and brainstorming any kind of ideas for any project or class work, the same as any type of laptop or computer does. Josh Higgins from Usatoday.com agrees when stating that cell phones are useful in school by providing students with help and also teachers and staff are using phonesto keep track of students work and other things. The essence of Josh Higgins viewpoint is that cell phones are useful in many ways and that it could educate other students that cell phones can also be used for classwork and collaborating.Of course, it is possible to disagree with the view that cell phones are going to be useful and could help students learn and instead argue that using cell phones is a waste of time and won’t help students learn. Also, people would say that cell phones that are used in school are going to have a negative impact on students education because of how easy cell phones can help them find the answer on any type of work or even a take home test. However, the weight of the evidence is on the other side. What must be remembered is that cell phones are used as a tool. They could help with many kids who are having a hard time with something in school and can help collaborate with other students with research, classwork or a group project and it could help them a lot.But also remember that in some schools, some of the wifi that teachers and principles used can be tracked and that could lead to a student being caught on an inappropriate website or talking to another student in a different

The 21st Century has been ruled by electronic devices. From iPads to Chromebooks, technology can be found in almost every household across the United States. One piece of technology has always been the most popular of all. That piece of technology is the cellular telephone. According to an article written by Monica Anderson titled Technology Device Ownership: 2015 states that roughly every 9 out of 10 american adults own a cell phone. While 73% of teens have access to a smartphone, the starting age of having a personal cell phone is getting younger each year. When it comes to teens, however, they take their phones everywhere they go. Here is where the problem starts. There is a certain topic under fire regarding teens bringing their phones to school. Some choose to believe how adolescents do not have the self-control to use their cell phones while attending school. While this may be true, there are many more positives to bringing a cellular device to a classroom. Students should be able to bring their cell phones to class because of the ease of searching a topic, the use of it during emergencies, and how smartphones allow for social learning.
This becomes a wider issue when students begin to pull out cell phones in the middle of class. Cue the distractions. Speaking from a high school student’s perspective, I can say that as much as I love having my phone with me at all times, it is definitely a distraction during class. There is always a number of times, during a lesson or a presentation, where I find my attention drifting off of the lecture, and towards my cell phone. As an individual who usually has a strong attention span, I can speak on behalf of my peers when I say that allowing personal technology would only be a distraction to students.
Today’s cell phone is the front line technology at our fingertips. Keeping this in mind the use of cell phones have become an affair when it comes to allowing teens to use them in educational environments, such as schools. One part of society supports the use of cell phones while the other part of society disapproves the use of cell phones. I personally believe that cell phones should not only be allowed in school, but cell phones should be mandatory just like a textbook. Cell phones do not only allow students to stay united with friends and family, but cell phones are also a magnificent learning system, and they boost the liable use of technology.
Cell phones are small and portable yet provide so much to its user with being able to look up anything to calling your parents in case of an emergency or if you need to give them a heads up on something. With the way things are today people need to focus on incorporating cell phones into daily life and finding ways to make them more suitable in a classroom environment. Teachers are already doing this though with using apps that work with the whole class and can track data and usage of a student. It cannot be debated that cell phones are beneficial in school as before cell phones you would have to go to your local library and hopefully find what you are looking for. Cell phones belong in a school environment as they can be helpful and it 's a parent 's right to be able to get ahold of their
It’s not acceptable to use cell phones in class. Actually, using cell phones has more negative effects than positive. So, why do we need to change the policy that prohibits students from using cell phones in classrooms? In my opinion, I will say no, we shouldn’t change the policy that exists now - no cell phone use, under any circumstances.

Ever since incidents such as 9/11 and Columbine, high schools have started implementing new rules regarding cellphones. School districts should permit students to use cellular devices in school for purposes of improving their education and providing themselves with a sense of security. By permitting the use of cellphones in school, students can increase their knowledge and complete school work by using applications and other features on their smartphones.
