Higher education, also known as third-level or post-secondary education, is an optional stage in learning that comes after one is through with their secondary education in high school. It is delivered in colleges, universities, and institutes of technology among others. It includes undergraduate and postgraduate levels involving teaching, social services, activities and research. Higher education also prepares the students for the outside world through giving them skills in different areas that are set to help them follow their careers in the future. It helps students to focus on a single discipline related to the career that they have chosen (Kyllonen). For example, one can undertake a discipline that will allow them to become either a nurse or a doctor. Different types of doctors will also be allowed to take different classes that major in the profession of their choice. Most people do not see the importance of higher education and observe it as a hindrance between them and starting their careers at high school.
