Adolf Hitler. When a person hears his name, not many good things will come to their head. However Hitler did possess one amazing quality that led to him be one of the most powerful men on earth: the ability to influence others through his rhetoric. Hitler used his speaking ability to take over a country in their time of need and lead them to infamy. The ways Hitler did this was by connecting with his audience, flamboyant motions, variation in pitch, using his charisma, and working his audience up before giving a speech.
Hitler used repetition throughout his speeches to capture the audiences attention. Repetition helps the audience become more comfortable with new ideas because after hearing the same thing over and over, the audience will find it less intimidating ("Analyzing"). For example, when a person hears a new song they may not like it at first. However once they listen to it more, they will feel more comfortable with it and may end up loving the song. Also, people learn new things faster through repetition. Chants, prayers, and dances are based on patterns that are repeated over and over making the human learn them faster and understand them better ("Analyzing"). The power of repetition in a speech can also have a huge impact on it's audience.
There were two ways Hitler used repetition in his speeches. First was by repeating slogans. Hitler repeated slogans as a way of advertising ("Analyzing"). By repeating these slogans, the audience will "become saturated and remember the message without conscious effort ("Analyzing"). The second way Hitler used repetition was by using "we" and "they" to distinguish the difference between German and the rest of the world. In Hitler's Victory Will be ours speech, Hitler said "the...

These points helped Hitler become one of the most successful men on the planet. No one can clearly understand the power of rhetoric until they realize how Hitler used his rhetoric to take over his country with a thought of taking over the world.

Of these devices used were the anastrophe, alliteration, anaphora, and hypophora. In anastrophe, a sentence is carried out by abandoning the usual placement of words. An example of this found within the speech is, “...if there is to be advanced any proposal designed to ease even the smallest measure of tensions of today’s world…” 13 Alliteration is the repetition of the initial sound of words in a series. An example of alliteration found within this speech is “...atomic attack…” 14 An anaphora is the repeated use of a single word or group of words. An example of this devise found within this speech is “But for me to say that the defense capabilities of the United States are such..., for me to say that the retaliation capabilities of the United States…” 15 A hypophora is a question given that is shortly followed by an answer. This device is found in the speech when Eisenhower said, “Could anyone wish his name to be coupled by history with such human degradation and destruction? Occasional pages of history do record the faces of the “great destroyers,” but the whole book of history reveals mankind’s never-ending quest for peace…”
Adolf Hitler was considered a performer, a performer who appealed to all audiences. His speeches, although very dramatic, captured the people of Germany to view Hitler as a celebrity. German society looked up to Hitler and the Nazi party as their saviors. Hitler’s speeches were also uplifting, he promised a better Germany for its people who were in anguish. Hitler and the Nazi party’s uniformed appearance made their supporters feel a sense of order that could whip the country into
Everything that Hitler did from speeches to drives through town and even Hitler youth events everything was made to be dramatic. Hitler was very successful in making himself and the Nazi party look like they were above the rest of the people and the ones to lead Germany out of struggles and that all faith and pride should be given to him as he is the savior. The ways Hitler were able to gives speeches and, start off slow and yell passionately resonated with the German people and would captivate them. Hitler was a charming man who was able to inspire morale and give the people hope of Germany rising from the embarrassment of World War I. “You do not want to let yourself be morally corrupted by hate and suffering, you just want to remain good-natured, peaceful, amiable, and nice. But how to avoid hate and suffering if you are daily bombarded with things that cause them?” Hitler was able to lead such a campaign by starting off slowly and then building it to the level it got while right in front of everyone. . “There was not one single example of energetic defense, of courage or principle. There was only panic, flight and desertion” (p132). When Germany realized at what had happened it was already to late to stop it. Hitler had successfully brought the Nazis from nothing to a ruling
Hitler was furious with Germany’s surrender in World War I, so when he got back to his home in Munich, he was determined to enter politics and become the greatest leader in German history (Smith). He spent all of his time and effort trying to become the chancellor of Germany. Once he was voted into being chancellor, he needed a way to become the leader of all of Germany. Hitler gathered power through many acts of t...
In Kennedy’s speech, he had rhetorical devices such as plain folks appeal, repetition, and pathos. He used plain folk appeal by using the audience’s language of German by saying “Ich bin ein Berliner” (par. 3). Him saying “I am a Berliner” strengthens his argument, as it makes President Kennedy feel like a normal person as he is with the people of Berlin. He used repetition when he was going against communism and stated that all people who disagree should “...come to Berlin” (par. 5). This use of repetition emphasizes Kennedy’s argument and helps him connect with the audience. Kennedy used the persuasive technique of pathos when he was saying that the wall was “... separating families, dividing husbands and wives and brothers and sisters, and dividing a people who wish to be joined together” (par. 6). This makes the audience feel a sense of pity towards the families who have been separated by the Berlin Wall. To conclude, Kennedy had a strong use of various different rhetorical
Obama uses multiple rhetorical devices that are centered around repetition because that is the only way he can make the public understand whatever he’s saying.
Hitler got everything he wanted for so long, without even having to resort to force. Lukacs describes Hitler as ''being an amateur at generalship, but he posessed the great professional talent applicable to all human affairs: an understanding of human nature and the understanding of the weaknesses of his opponents. That was enough to carry him very far''(3). Lukacs wants to make that a point in all of his readers' minds; that Hitler could manipulate people so he could get what he wanted without resorting to violence.
Hitler was very manipulative before he even took over as dictator, and even before he was announced the Chancellor of Germany. Hitler’s plan all along was to become the dictator of Germany, even before he was...
Centuries later and the name Adolf Hitler still rings volumes till this present day: discussed in history books, talked about amongst intellects and commoners alike, and despised by many for years to come. ... through his repetition as well when he states “if you seek peace, if you seek prosperity for the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, if you seek liberalization”, along with repeating “Mr. Gorbachev” to add more sincerity to his speech (Reagan). Both uses of repetition by both presidents gave clear emphasis on the point they were addressing, the point that East and West Berlin should be joined once again and free from the wall of concrete that separates so many. It also gave both presidents credibility to the citizens of Berlin, in that they understood the exact troubles that these people were struggling with and the only way to solve them is to bring unity and freedom to East and West Berlin.
Hitler wasn't well known during World War I. As a matter of fact, Hitler was a private during the war and ended up gaining power because he appealed to a large number of German people. He appealed to them by a combination of an effective and well-practiced style of speaking with what looked like undoubtable sincerity and determination. This helped Hitler find a large audience for his program of national revival, racial pride in Germanic values, hatred for France and of the Jewish and other un-German races, and despise for the Weimer Republic. With the way he spoke, Hitler convinced the people of Germany to believe that a dictatorship was the only thing that could save Germany from the problems it was having. Hitler's views only changed a little in the years to follow; yet he still managed to draw an increasing number of people to his speeches.
