There are many children and adults that are diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Narcolepsy. Narcolepsy is a sleep disorder that causes a person to have sudden episodes of deep sleep. This causes the person to feel drowsy and not alert during daytime hours. Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) limits a person’s ability to pay attention. Also a person with (ADHD) usually has hyperactivity and impulsiveness. People who have difficulty focusing and controlling their behavior benefit significantly by taking Adderall. Adderall is a medication that has proven to be beneficial in treating these medical conditions. According to LiveScience, “Adderall, a combination of amphetamines dextroamphetamines are central nervous system stimulants. This medication is aimed at helping to restore the balance of neurotransmitters in the brain” (Elaine J. Hom). It has been noted that if this drug has been taken indiscriminately by persons who do not have a (ADHD), they can experience hallucinations, seizures and irregular heartbeats. Some people including college students take adderall because it speeds up metabolism and lowers the appetite which results in weight loss.
